ouch... oddsmakers don't like us!

Jeez, that's harsh. The Colts have been playing like crap. It's tempting to take the Pats, but the last two times I did that things have not gone well (06 vs. Indy on Sunday night and SB42).

No surprise. It's still Matt Cassel on the road against Peyton Manning when the Colts backs are up against the wall. The Colts potentially have the downfield passing game to exploit our biggest weakness. This line should split the money which is basically the point of the spread anyway.

the oddsmakers don't give a ****

enough people are betting the colts to push the line that way

so gamblers in general don't like us

I don't think a loss would surprise anyone. Warts and all, they're the best team we've faced this year.

has nothing to do with the "oddsmakers." lines are driven by where the money is going. this probably means that a lot/too much of the early money was on the colts so they increased the spread to get more action on the Pats.

IMO, 5 1/2 is about right. For the Colts, this is as close to a "must win" game as a team can have in Game Eight...to keep from going 3--5, being far down in the Wild Card race and having to start thinking about writing off the season. Plus it's a home game, on national TV against a team with a (ever improving) Rookie QB, no running back and no Rodney Harrison.

The odds makers set the line where they think the money will go. If you listen to PATRIOTS FANS on this board, the expectation is that the 2004 Colts' offense is magically going to show up on Sunday and gain 1,000 yards and score 250 points because "this is the Colts' Super Bowl". What do you think the rest of the country is thinking.

Eh, they get 3 points for being at home - So it's really a 2.5 point game. That's too close to call.

And this is the Colts, typically they're good for an extra point or two based solely on the reputation (so, too, are the Pats, but not this year).

Factor in that Sanders and Addai are expected back, and it's understandable why the money has gone to the Colts.

Plus, most gamblers are morons, and most morons hate the Pats enough to gamble against them.

I think it's because we are at home after a few weeks and Bob Sanders is expected back. Sanders and Addai usually have good games against the Patriots. Not to mention I don't remember the last time we lost 3 in a row.

*shrugs*

If you are willing to rollover season. Not that long ago, Titans, Chargers, Bears - three games in a row.

Otherwise you have to go back to 2002.

And there it is. Now I remember. Fans flipped out too. But, they always do. *sigh*

We should have a sticky explaining how odds-making works so we don't get this same thread every time we're not Vegas favorites to win. We went through this just a few weeks ago.

Amen. And the first post in that thread should be "who cares?"

I love it. I LOVE IT! Only the Patriots could find a way to come off the season they did and be reduced to a weekly underdog. They won't see it coming.

that's bs.
we're going to overpower their defense with our offense Sunday night.

I predict 3 int's on Manning with him going out with an injury.

Good to see you think along the lines of your name...
Hate to see players go down...but the manning brothers...lets just say I wouldn't feel bad for those @ssholes, especially the more aged and well pounded of the two.

Which Colts player are you? What number do you wear? WE???

Manning has played much rougher defenses than the Pats so far this season.

I would be more worried about Cassel and if your o line is for real.Freeney often does a good job against Matt Light.

Just my opinion.
