Hey, I haven't seen his injury talked about much since the game. He is integral to our secondary, especially after he's been having a really good year so far.

Any guesses on the extent of his injury? Badly bruised shoulder? Maroney-bad? Any ideas?

Hobbs hurt his shoulder, but he said to reporters last night that he will be fine.

He's a gamer. I hope he's really better, cause he plays through injuries.

It's not hard to play through injuries when you are hurt as often as ol Hobbs is. I swear everytime I see him make a play on the ball, I cringe until he stands back up.

Give him credit, he plays through the injuries.. he was obviously hurting last Sunday..

We need him Sunday night in the secondary.
I wonder if Slater or someone else will takeover return duties ?

Ellis Hobles has been playing pretty good this year. But injuries are becoming a huge issue for him. Yes he plays thru them but look at last year he played thru it and look where that took him.

He was playing hurt already this year and now he has a shoulder issue.

I wont give up on him because he is my boy but all his skills are not worth as much when he isn't healthy.

get well quick Ellis because we need you back there.

I think we really need him this week, but against teams with less of a pass threat, I'd really like to see Wheatley, Wilhite, Richardson, and Spann get more reps. The more experience they get now, the better off we will be come playoff time.

I'm more worried that something is wrong with his legs than with his shoulder. His speed is pretty clearly compromised. As much as I hate to say it, because of what a weapon he can be, he shouldn't be running back kickoffs anymore. The toll it takes on his body is probably what's keeping him dinged up.

This is just as big a concern for me as losing him in the secondary. Field positions is going to be huge in this game, and there is a huge dropoff in kick returns after Hobbs.

Slater has wheels no doubt, but he never seems to make a move or make anybody miss. He just books it head first into the coverage team and gets dropped after about 20 yards. I'm sure he'll learn in time, but it'll be a factor this week.

Oh yeah his legs are much more of a concern to me too.

I wouldn't judge him too much on the limited chances he has got. He hasn't looked awful and he hasn't had a great return yet I dont know that we can say more about it until he gets more of a chance.

a couple of those avery catches looked like hobbs' fault, so if someone told me hobbs was injured, i'd believe them.

i really dont want to take hobbs off kickoff returns, he gets us good field position.

I would like to see Welker return some kicks. we need the field position ellis is hurting Welker can make all the moves has the speed is good on punt returns or give deltha a go he like to make plays so let him.

I hope so. Our secondary is already pretty thin to be having our one proven corner out there returning.

It always seems that no matter how may DB's the Pats have in camp every year and on the roster they always get thin due to injuries. Not sure what the solution is or if this is true of other organizations.

I know he getsgood yards on kick offs but why does BB send hobbs out there he's gonna get hurt and he is our number 1 corner not worth therisk imoh

Yeah ... give him credit ... just like NEM used to do.

DBs are always the fastest-moving players on the field on a consistent basis, and have to hit more consistently from a distance than any other positions. They are more often moving at full speed when they make their hits.

They (CBs at least) are also often used as kick returners, which is another position which must move fast and take/deliver hits.

It seems to me that this raises the potential for debilitating (less than nagging) injuries.

If he can win field position battles, I have no doubt Bill will use him. The reason I think so is something Matt said in his post game PC:

Q: Does Bill Belichick try to discourage you from running, in part because you’ve got to stay healthy?
MC: No he doesn’t. We go out there, and the one thing we try to do each and every week is go out there and don’t play scared. If that’s part of my game and something where I need to pick up a first down on third down because I don’t see anybody down the field then I’m going to run and do it.
