Re: Wow. And I thought ESPN and the Boston Herald were bad

Apparently, BB took a dig at Manning. Fannation at Si immediately posted the following. Read the article first then read the comments. F-ing fantastic. It's almost to the point that it's hilarious at how bad the media is collectively grasping at straws for anything to throw dirt on BB's name...

Pats' Bill Belichick takes a dig at Manning, Colts | FanNation

Yeah, it's pretty easy to make someone's words say anything if you completely ignore the context of the original question.

Sometimes we expect media member to show less bias than we do as fans, when 99% of them have never given us any reason to expect that we should.

Re: Wow. And I thought ESPN and the Boston Herald were bad

Sports journalists are just becoming dumber and dumber. Actually, this seems to be a problem with journalists as a whole.

Re: Wow. And I thought ESPN and the Boston Herald were bad

when you start off at the bottom of the evolutionary scale, it's sort of hard to get worse

Re: Wow. And I thought ESPN and the Boston Herald were bad

The most annoying part of that is that if anything, he's making a subtle jab at the media for harping on the Pats injury report and not other teams, but they've spun it as a "dig" at the Colts. What a joke.

The Colts will be all mad and stomp us into dust now!!!!

not.

On SI.com they are reporting this is a dig at Manning. I think it's pretty clear it's a dig at:

1. NFL/Roger Goodell
2. Possibly St. Dungy

They can't even report it right when the Pats are doing something mildly wrong or incendiary!!

Reminds me of classic moment from Arrested Development:

Michael: “George Michael, you don’t want to be a magician. It is a path to a lonely life where people mock you and you don’t even realize it.
G.O.B.: “Michael, I’M a magi– oh I see what you did there.”

Just replace magician with "media member" and I think you have a nice representation of what is going on here.

It is clearly NOT aimed at Peyton. That is not BB's style. Anyhow, reporters and sports writers are so uninformed and are just plain stupid. I am truly surprised they can function in life at all.

Or it could go like this:

Media member: "coach are you playing tricks with the injury report?"
BB: "Illusions, Michael, illusions."

:D

it just accured to me that this year might be the first time brady has ever been on the injury report and actually be injured

You know, I think this is exactly the reason that Belichick never says this kind of stuff -- to keep it from getting twisted and potentially used as motivation for the other team.

I think Belichick acted a bit impulsively on this one -- taking time out of another question to try to make this point. He's usually great at not getting baited or thinking that press conferences are there to make points, but instead to be tolerated and gotten through.

I know it's titilating and somewhat enjoyable when BB does this, but I'd rather he just stay consistent. And for all the media whining about BB's lack of candor or excitability at pressers, here's exhibit one why it's your own fault.

Re: Is this a dig at the Colts - BB quote came from reiss

The only reason I can think of is b/c of Florio's rumor mill style his stories have a greater level of credibility if they are linked to mainstream press stories. I know I put a greater level of creditability in his stories if they are linked to something else.

Yeah and that is what makes me think he is a POS. If you want to attribute soemthing to someone else to give it more credibilty that is fine but interjecting your own thoughts into someone else's opinions and making it look like it came from the original piece while I am sure he did it legally is still Sh*tty.

All depends on YOUR own perception, the only stuff that BB said himself is in direct quotation marks. Everything else is being said by either Florio or Reiss and is their own opinion or statement - - - not BB's. (As is perfectly allowable and correct in proper grammar.) He did nothing to mislead you, you did that to yourself by your own personal interpretation.
