Bob Sanders' prognosis?

The guys on the Big Show told me he sucks and they played football so it must be a fact.

Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

The guy makes a ton of tackles inside the box that stop what other wise would be a long run. He completely changes the defensive complexion of that team.

The highest number of solo tackles Sanders has ever made in a season is 71; which put him just inside the top 20 (for DB's) in the league last season (18th to be exact).

The guy is living off of a big 2006 post-season. One great post season, and the occasional big play and chest pound, does not make him the best safety in the NFL (as one poster crowned him). That's just ridiculous. The guy is a liability in coverage and bites (hard) on the PA more than just about any other star DB I have seen in the last few years. Brady and Moss pimped him like a $2 crack ho, going down the stretch in the game against Indy last season.

I can't argue with numbers, but I will say this: if a defender has a finger on a guy when he is brought down he is credited with an assisted tackle today. And a lot of his tackle come inside the box where the LB's are and those LB's miss a lot of tackles.

I also think that has something to do with him biting on play action especially in potential running scenarios. He is often dropping back into coverage from the box, so he is already out of position. When he plays deep center his speed gets him to the ball fast and if memory serves me correctly he has a pick or two against us.

Is Sander's expected to be out next week when we play in Indy? I hope so. Obviously the defensive player of the year will make a big difference if he plays.

I hope he's healthy. Otherwise Colts fans will be whining, but Bob was out! Just as Rams fans whined, we woulda kicked your butt if Jackson were healthy! I want to beat them at their best. But I can't control that. Injuries are part of the game. There are no excuses. We don't have Brady, but our Pats still have to play the games.

In all likelihood Bob is going to play. He wanted to play in the Titans game. This game is big for the Colts. I don't know if it's an absolute must win, but a loss cripples their playoffs hopes. So, I'd count on him being there.

The guy is a difference maker with their defense. Even if he isn't making the play, the offense knows he's out there and has to plan for him, receivers with alligator arms are not uncommon. Plus you have to factor in the lift he provides to his teammates. The guys in front of him generally play better when he is out there.

I don't get this made of glass carp either. Ya the dude is hurt more than I would like to see, but that's because he always gives it 100%. He goes full bore, laying his body on the line as he hits like a freight train.

"I don't get this made of glass carp either."

Really? The dude has never played a full season. He gets hurt all the time.

In 2006, he played 4 games -2004, 6 games - Last year, he almost made it at 15 games.

So if you put pen and paper to it, he's played in 57% of the regular season games since he's entered the league. I mean, Please - I know you are a Colts Homer and all and I think Sanders is one of the best around, but the dude is made of glass.

Perhaps you were talking about the fish, Carp. In that case, I don't get it either.

Maybe it's how people define made of glass. When I hear it, I tend to think of guy tend to think of guy that aren't taking (or delivering) a good amount of physical abuse. To me it's more of a **** factor, as in somebody that can't stay healthy but never really gets hit. But if it just means that a guy misses time regardless...

Ok, fair enough. On this board, Made of Glass means that the guy gets hurt a lot. It's not meant as a slam on him as a player or his production. It's simply a commentary on his ability to stay in games and contribute.

Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

I don't know how anyone let alone PATRIOTS FANS could doubt Sander's abilities or call him cheap (considering we've had rodney for so many years) Sanders (when healthy) is the best safety in the league, have you all forgotten the 06 play offs? Luckily he's made of glass

I think he gets injured alot because he uses his body as a weapon..."Reckless Abandon"

I agree with that, he's one of the best in the league.

Re: Bob Sander's Prognosis?

I agree with that, he's one of the best in the league.

And I hope he uses it as a weapon that's bent and knocks himself out of the game.

It was different two years ago. The Colts and Pats were clear division winners that year and the Colts needed that game for seeding in the playoffs. This game isn't the same thing. This game is no more important to the Colts than any other conference game.

The Colts are 3and 4. A loss would make them 3-5 and end any play-off wild card hopes they might have. The next game will be the most important game of the season for the rest of the year for the Colts. The next loss eliminates them from competition for this year. (OMG, I love to be able to say that.) Every one physically able will play.

Nonsense, the team currently in the second wildcard position has three losses, only one ahead of the Colts. 10-6 or even 9-7 could make the playoffs. It will be a while, if ever, before we can realistically count the Colts out.

I agree. Besides the Pats, the Colts are the only team I would never leave for dead. They need a flatline before I walk away from them.

Assuming the Titans win the AFC South, that leaves the Colts tied for 2nd place in the div. with the Jags at 3-4.
Not too likely the 3rd place team in the div. will make the wildcard. Also unlikely the Colts or the Jags will win out in their own div. IMO, it's unlikely a wildcard will even come from the AFC South.

Well he practiced fully today. I expect him to get his usual rest day Thursday or Friday though, as usual. For weeks it was expected he would be back for this game, but many hoped for the Titans game instead.

One of the few bright spots lately has been his backup who is very good. But, we still need Bob. Bob is Mr. Intangibles. It seems like the entire D just feeds off of him.
