I know it says JT O'Sullivan
I ran across this article about Seymour being the best defensive lineman in football. Now that he's injury free he's the Seymour of old. I hope it hasn't already been threaded, I don't want to jamb the board up with extra threads.

Niners' J.T. O'Sullivan plays himself out of a job - Ross Tucker - SI.comGrade: A
Richard Seymour, New England Patriots. I am often asked to name the best defensive lineman I ever faced and my answer is always Richard Seymour. He proved why once again Sunday with a typically dominating performance against the St. Louis Rams.

When healthy, Seymour is the rare physical phenom whose passion for the game and temperament match his god-given gifts. Seymour has extremely long arms and uncanny natural leverage that allows him to power through opponents, like he did in the Rams contest when he literally pushed back and then threw high-priced free agent left guard Jacob Bell into Marc Bulger's lap on one play, knocking down both men and forcing an errant throw by Bulger.

And therein lies the greatness of Seymour. Yes, he led the team in tackles with seven, which is quite the feat by itself for a 3-4 defensive end who is tasked with the responsibility of two-gapping the offensive tackle across from him. (Editor's Note: Two-gapping means Seymour is responsible for both gaps on either side of the lineman, as opposed to just one.) He also added a sack. But it is the other plays, like the Bell pressure, where Seymour really shows his penchant for physically manhandling the opposition, even when he doesn't make the play.

Greatness in the NFL only occurs when amazing physical attributes are combined with outstanding attention to detail from a technique standpoint, and when that player has a fervor for the game that borders on obsession. Seymour is all of that and yet truly unique among elite defensive lineman in that he never takes a play off or relents in any fashion. He will be a force to be reckoned with for the remainder of the season as long as he can avoid injury, which has plagued him in recent years.

I just hope this doesn't ahh, er, JINX him.

Noooooooooo.

Richard Seymour sucks.

Some jacka$$ on this message board said so.

Now you gone and done it. We're not allowed to say good things about Seymour anymore. He's old, slow. Didnt you get the memo? :D

Ever since Seymour got his contract, he has played like crap... should dump him and Vrabel as they are old and decrepitl..

The reality is when Seymour is 100% he is the best.. when he is about 60% he is still very good..

this is a great time to trade him . the colts are so desperate for a tackle they will even give a 2nd rounder.

Why don't we trade Cassell while we're at it?

I bet he would fetch a 3rd rounder. Turning a 7 into a 3rd would be a great steal!

I can think of about a dozen Seymour haters on this board who will disagree that it is a good article.

they can criticize the article all they want. but they would be foolish to criticize Big Sey right now as he is playing as good as he used to.

Repeat.... DRUGS ARE BAD,Drugs are Bad,Drugs are BAD! A minD is a terrible thing to waste. I will not take drugs. They are BAD. ;)

Seymour did not lead the team in tackles.. Bruschi did..
And Seymour has only had 2 solid games this year.. Last week and against the Jets..
Week 1 a Alberts, rookie LT for KC, ate him up..
And lets not forget against the dolphins..

I was making fun of all the trade seymour threads from years past..... cough cough.

The guy who wrote this must be Seymours Mothers uncles cousins friend.

Some boxscores list solo tackles then assisted tackles. ESPN, for instance, adds the two together for their boxscore. Seymour lead the team in solo tackles. Also, a Seymour tackle means more than most because his are after a shorter gain than most. Doesn't really matter tackles are a BS stat.

I think you are way off.

Seymour had a real good game vs denver and the Rams. He was good vs San Fran and as you said he had a good jets game too. I dont think the Chiefs ate him up as bad you are stating though I thought he would manhandle Alberts.

The last two games have been vintage Seymour and that is huge if he keeps that up than our de will be nasty.

Next week would be a fantastic time to prove once and for all that he's back.

Seymour had his lunch handed to him in SF, did you watch the game ? I DVR'd it and watched it 3 times. He didn't record one tackle and was blown off the football 5-8 yards downfield on numerous occasions (without a double team). Here's the link

This message is hidden because BradyToMoss is on your ignore list.

Let me guess... It's about Seymour sucking?

Seymour is supposed to be on the Jim Rome radio show momentarily.

The fact that you show me a box score when we are talking about Seymour shows me you dont appreciate the things he does that are not stats.

Yes I did watch the game I was there. We stayed in cali for the San Diego game and it was erased on the DVR when I returned so I did not breakdown the game. But I remember him getting into the backfield a few times and forcing O'Sullivan out of the pocket. The few pressures I remember made me think it was a good game for him but again I didn't break it down so maybe there were bad things I missed.

Can you point out a few negative Plays that were his fault from the San Fran game or are you just hating becuase he wasn't on the Box? What was the outcome of the play where seymour was driven back 5-8 yards?
