Last year as we all chewed are fingers to bloody stumps - not for fear of elimination, just not winning EVERY game - my friend Tony (a Bucs fan) would always re-assure me when we were down in a game. He'd say "The thing about the Patriots is, they know how to win games. They may fall behind, they may lose guys, but they will almost always find a way to pull it off."

It wasn't much comfort after losing the... you know. But I was reminded of it today skimming the NFP before firing up the "beast that eats my time".

What makes Belichick so unique is that he finds ways to win games and rarely does he make mistakes at the end of the half that costs his team the game. His situational football is one of the best in the NFL and even without Tom Brady, he is able to win games. He has a defense that has some holes, no running backs, and a quarterback that has virtually never played. If he wins the AFC East, he is my coach of the year, because instead of *****ing about the problem, he is finding ways to solve the problem, without screaming or causing a scene. It is never about him, only about the team.

My only issue is a really annoying technicality. Virtual means the same as actual. Cassel has played 7 games, hundreds of snaps, been in the system for several years, etc... He hasn't "virtually never played."

Anyway, I'm glad Bill is the coach of this team. He is man of vision and who understands work ethic. He realizes that team is more valuable than stars and values team players more than any others.

Brady is amazing because, despite all that he has accomplished, he is a team player. Staying supportive of Matt, taking pay adjustments to make the team better.

This team has a long list of this type of guys and I think the group going into their golden years of the NFL will be remembered the same way.

This team will find a way to win.

virtual(a): being actually such in almost every respect; "a practical failure"; "the once elegant temple lay in virtual ruin"

[granted, the definition has been altered lately, but still... :p]

He's looking at the season as it unfolded - relatively speaking Matt had no actual experience as a starter just as we've to date lost all 3 of our redundant feature and backup feature RB's.

That Bill hasn't even gotten a sniff nomination at coach of the week this season is a joke.

Re: Bill knows how to win football games.

I agree with Mo as usual. :D
It is a joke that BB hasn't received any consideration for coach of the week.
But unfortunately, there is a lot of Patriot HATE out there, after spygate, there isn't much love for BB or the Pats. I realized it even more the week Brady was injured. It seemed like the fans of every team in the league won a Super Bowl when Brady got hurt. It was disgusting. Steeler fans were especially insufferable. It just goes to show just how "GREAT" Brady really is.
Despite that greatness, I think there are many outside of Patriot Nation who just don't get our Patriots. It was never just about Brady or any one player on this TEAM. It has always been about the TEAM.
That's why this team has been so successful when facing adversity.
It all starts with Bill Belicheck. That man is the best coach in the NFL, IMHO, and PATRIOT NATION is damn lucky to have him.
He's our coach of the week EVERY WEEK. :D

Re: Bill knows how to win football games.

All hail Bill Belichick :youtheman:

There is no doubting we have the best coach in the league.

When this season continues the way it has the praise will start to come. Right now the media is still waiting for us to fail but when they realize its not happening they will then start heaping the man the praise he deserves because the story will be there and have to be told not because they want to.

I think you're dead on. Could you imagine what things would be like had Belichick retired after last season and Brady went down?

Re: Bill knows how to win football games.

Without a doubt we are lucky to have him, he is without a doubt the best football mind in the game right now.. cannot imagine that Rumbswab Mangini in the same position.. or some other coach who wuold spend time whining, instead of making things better.

Of all the areas this team could afford injuries, at least they occurred at positions we had depth, RB and DB. Granted, the depth in the secondary was young, but much of it promising. And leave it to BB and his staff to make the most of whatever talent there was. Even at QB we had depth, albeit all unproven. Early injuries to the OL or DL would have been, IMO, more problematic.

It's good to be a fan of the team with the best head coach and front office in the league.
