OK, so according to the article the players' responses broke down sharply across racial lines, except for agreement on 2 men: Dungy and Belichick. They clearly stand head and shoulders above the rest of the coaching fraternity.

While I am not surprised BB made both lists. I am surprised Cauglin made the would not want to have as a coach list.

Yep. The nice thing is that the negative part presumably doesn't hurt the team at all in recruiting FAs, because the Patriots wouldn't want the kind of player who wouldn't like to play for a coach like Belichick.

Sarcasm? The guy fines players for not being early to meetings.

I agree with the top four guys on the "Wouldn't like to play for" list.

Coughlin is an old and out-of-touch unreasonable disciplinarian, Mangini can't be trusted, Gruden seems rude even at times unbearable to his players and Petrino is a quitter.

I think BB did worse than he would have in most years b/c of the timing (spygate)

The people that wouldn't are ones that have been run over by him and know they will never get to play for him, like LdT. They read far too much into it by speculating that:

The naming of Belichick on both lists illustrated how players were willing to make compromises when it comes to winning.

It could just mean that he's a player that a big portion of the people said they either love or hate, not that the ones who want to play for him are "compromising" anything so that they can win.

The Rat's really endeared himself to no one since ascending to the HC ranks...except an aging gunslinger for naming his kid after a guy he barely knows...:bricks:

my goodness what would ESPN say? No Mangini on the list? Oh the easy cheap shots!

GREAT INFO!

Very interesting - thanks for sharing....

Seems natural that BB would be on the "most like to play for" and the "least"

He's a demanding Coach. Players don't always like that. But he wins. Players LOVE that!

Meanwhile MangIdiot languishes only on the "Least" like to play for list.

That's not good news if you're ManJudas. He can't win even with a HoF QB and after spending $120 million in the offseason and in a Division without Brady to contend with. He'd better hope no one in the NY area happens to read this article. ;)

Since it originated in the NY Times, Eric's probably screwed in that department.

According to those polls, Lovie Smith should be right there with them, it appears.

the article doesn't say when the survey was done; i.e., before or after he won the SB...

Coughlin is an old and out-of-touch unreasonable disciplinarian

...and when Belichick was the Brown's coach, this didn't happen????

Belichick and Coughlin are a bit like Parcells.

I do realize that Belichick toned it down quite a bit... but, he will be on your ass asap if you screw up.

Least like to play for...2.Mangini... what goes around, comes around..

Thanks for providing the summary, as I would NEVER think to read the NY Times on my own.
