I'm not buying it yet. Schefter's note doesn't say anything beyond them missing practice. In around the league he uses the same speculative wording. Not trying to bolster false hope, just saying, I don't buy the idea lock stock and barrel that neither plays until the official word hits.

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Thursday roundup: Morris, Jordan out for Pats

Patriots RB Sammy Morris (knee) missed practice for the second consecutive day. RB LaMont Jordan, who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, took part in a team walk-through on Wednesday but sat out on Thursday. Already without starter Laurence Maroney, the Patriots may have to rely more on rookie BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win.

Geez. It's going to be smurf-ball with Green-Ellis and Faulk toting the rock
Green-Ellis I believe is 5'11"...so a lot closer to Maroney...an inch taller than Jordan..an inch less than Morris.. he's NOT a wide body...but hardly a smurf.......

Bummer, more injured players.. the list is getting bigger and bigger.

In the video he specifically says two to three weeks. He also says Jordan misses at least one more game.

As long as Sammy's ready for crunch time. 2-3 weeks should work out perfectly:D

On Jordan: "in all probability"

Morris: 2-3 weeks "it looks like"

I just hate those little "if I'm wrong I can brush it off" phrases.

Not saying it's not true. Saying it could be intentional mis-information.

Regardless, I think BJGE did well and may surprise us this week. They're not playing a top (or middle) run D and I suppose we could always pass.

Still, hunch says Jordan plays, "or so it would seem".

I did not expect him to play this week, at all. I was fully confident he'd miss time.

I was expecting 4-6 weeks/season. Instead, I come on and see he's only out 2-3 games.

Of course I'm not "happy" he's out obviously, I'm "happy" he's still going to be playing relatively soon.

I still can't figure out which play resulted in Morris's injury....he was tearing it up!

Smurf size openings created by our line need smurf-sized RB to fit.

Ditto.
He's 5-11 and 215 lbs. How big do you want the guy to be.

Ben Jarvus Green Ellis was 5'11'' 225 at Mississippi. He got down to 220 for the combine. I'd be shocked if he was down to 215 but anything is possible. He is the exact opposite of Maroney. He is not nifty and does not have breakaway speed. He is a down hill runner who hits the hole hard and fast. Think a very poor mans Corey Dillon.

2 1000 yd seasons at OleMiss, alma mater of Eli Manning, which you would assume is a passing program. Not bad for a no-name guy. He does seem in a hurry to hit the hole, which is a good thing considering how fast they close up around here.

Poor man? How a strung out, crystal meth addicted, homeless, HIV+ (don't get all PC on me), cirrhotic, TB+ man's Clock Killer?

Any RB can 'hit an open hole'...a Patriot RB needs to be able to plow into walls.

remember all those threads questioning BB for carrying 5 RB and claiming that was too many.

Ummm... no actually. I remember the majority of people around here claiming Bill knew what he was doing for exactly this reason... injuries in the backfield dating back to '06 with Corey Dillon... where we were trotting out Heath Evans as our lead back in some games.

So yeah, please feel free to dig up one of 'all those threads', because that's not the way I remember it.

Geez. It's going to be smurf-ball with Green-Ellis and Faulk toting the rock, and lots of short flips to Welker. Evans certainly isn't much of a ball carrier. I haven't checked, did we bring anyone else aboard lately?

Morris-6'/220
Maroney- 5'11"/220
BJGE-5'11"-215
Faulk 5'8"-202
Jordan 5'10"-230

For all intents and purposes, GE is the same size as Maroney and Morris according to their NFL pages

lol, give the guy a chance before you go calling him a hobo's version of somebody.

Corey Dillon is #15 ALL-TIME in rushing yards in the history of the league. 'Poor man's Dillon' is actually a compliment.

So that's what "day to day" means.
