I have 45 reputation points. Is that a good thing?

I think it is. I'm almost there with 31 (thanks to your generous contribution). The only thing I want to know is how many reputation points are taken away when you get a bad rep added in?

The key is to stay the hell out of the political forum. The guys who post there are mostly Red because more posters get seriously pissed (as opposed to wicked pissah)

I believe the phrase you're searching for is wicked pist.

How would I check my rep points?

Click on the weight scale looking thing on the top right of one of your posts next to the exclamation point looking thing.

That was seriously funny as hell. I had a friend of mine saying that the whole time we were stationed in Korea.

I am curious about the bad rep thing, too. Anybody? (and yes, after one NEM filled foray into the political forum, I prefer to just read. Most of those guys are way too intense...it makes me wonder why they joined a Pats message board since I rarely see them post anything Pats related.)

I think it's a sliding scale. I belong to another forum (in which I'm much respected :D ) and the more "reputation" you have, the more weight a positive vote gets. I think a red "ding" is only worth 1 though, no matter who you are.

I think you can alter the point system and who can give how much as one of the administration options in the software, which I'm somewhat familiar with.

And while we're on the subject of reputation, can anybody explain to me why patsgo has not been banned yet? I can pull up at least 15 different threads in which he stalked then flamed me. The kid is a class A troll.

While I agree and sympathise with you, it takes quite a bit to get banned here. For several years a deranged old coot would cut n paste rants against the OC first Weis and later McD. There were several other pet rant topics as well. Not even personal threats and sexist attacks on female members was enough. I forget the final straw as it happened when I was off net for a month or so but after years he was finally banned.

You should rest assured that only your Troll does not see his behaviour as the pathetic utter fool that he is. Even w/o using ignore I don't 'see' his posts, but I do read yours. Enjoy the Forum.

All that tells me is that I need to vie for an admin spot. :banned:

YES. Dare to say anything the neo-con sheep don't like in there and you get blasted by their gang of a dozen with negative points in coordinated effort.

Correct, it can be adjusted. We don't utilize it here as far as forum permissions are concerned because it would require a reset because it would affect a lot of people (due to the political forum) who have plenty of negative rep from disagreements in that forum. Some forums if the rep goes down too much it can cause a ban (several I'm a part). But those tend to be more technical/informational sites where knowledge affects whether or not you're considered someone well-respected enough to listen to.

What will happen if your reputation point is below 5?
How about expired "infraction points"?

thank you for answering my question.

How do you tell if they good or bad rep points?

I don't think I have any...so 45 is a good start. ;)

I only have ten, I'm guessing you start with ten :D They have these on another board I read (not a memeber though) and they're obsessed with "repping" each other.

*I just tried to rep myself, didn't work :D

Ian - I'm a little clueless here. How do you check your points? How do you leave points? and do you know who left you points??

Thanks!

SC

You will spontaneously combust :verycool:

They're gone, so just be sure to follow the rules and you won't receive any further ones ;)

thank you for answering my question.

You're very welcome. - Ian
