Damn that makes it official. Here is hoping for a Harrison return next year.

Re: BB PC on live right now at patriots.com (Spann activated, and more)

Asked about Lynch he said "our roster's full".

Commenting on rookies he said Guyton is improving very quickly for a rookie.

LaMont is day-to-day. LOL

And ended with some praise for the Rams RB Jackson.

The end. No Lynch, No Seau, No Controversy.

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann called up

Here we go

Spann promoted
Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff October 22, 2008 11:00 AM
The Patriots promoted safety Antwain Spann from the practice squad today, and placed safety Rodney Harrison on season-ending injured reserve, the team announced.

With the roster full at 53 players, another roster move at safety does not appear likely at this time.

The team also re-signed C/G Dan Connolly and S Mark Dillard to the practice squad.

Sammy Morris?????

No mention, but you can't always hear the reporters, so he may have given a short answer I missed.

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Really? Wowser. ;)

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Okay, all together now.....

"Spann, Spann.

He's the man.

If he can't do it, nobody can!"

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Not a surprise, IMO. I was told by someone who covers the team that most of the players that were placed on the practice squad could have made the team if the roster limit was bigger. Three of those players are now active.
That's his opinion of course but I thought what he said was interesting at the time.

This meshes with what he said to Ordway yesterday afternoon as they good naturedly tried to get him to answer the Lynch/Law speculation. He said that while you may consider all options you have to look at what your needs and roster limits are in any situation at that point in time. If you don't need a guy who can potentially play this week and have room to stash someone on the roster to develop/pick up the system or get in football shape over weeks, you might go one way. Otherwise you tend to stay in house and add a guy whose been playing football recently in your system who could potentially play this week.

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Feel bad for Rodney. Good for Spann though, he had a great training camp. He could contribute as one of the extra D-backs in the nickel or dime packages. Looks like its all Meriweather and Sanders in the base D - thats fine by me, we certainly lose something in run support by losing Rodney. But Hit Stick has looked good in that role thus far, though its been limited since most of his snaps are in nickel packages.

BB is obviously very high on Guyton. Wonder if he sees Mayo and Guyton as the long term ILB pairing. Be about the 2 fastest ILB's the league

He did touch on that with the Big show guys yesterday too. Said he didn't think Sammy was hurt on the last play where he ran well. Apparently he felt he something earlier and after they looked at it in the locker room at half time the decision was made by the trainers/doctor to hold him out of the second half. So maybe he has a mild ligament sprain or a bone bruise or some such and they just didn't think it was wise to push his luck before assessing it further. Holley is also usually pretty connected and he's referred to it as a little dinged up.

I am pretty sure BB's philosophy towards the PS is: if the roster was 59 these are the 6 guys I would add.

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Harrison is my favorite player EVER. But I think Meriweather has looked better this year. He's flying all over, getting picks he might have dropped last year, and tackling well. I know he's a "bust," as christened by some of the idiots here last year, but he seems to be doing a little better.

They meant "in Canton". :)

Re: Harrison IR official, Spann promoted

Damn, Damn, Damn

I was hoping somehow it wouldn't be an IR thing.

I hope Spann is just here in the interim until we can get Lynch. If we don't get him than apparently he was not as good a fit as we would like to think.
