Did the team play with more energy in this game?

Seems to me the most tangible difference for the Pats was the high level of energy, effort, enthusiasm and general physicality of their play. They weren't perfect by any means, with the OL making some lapses, and Cutler's finger and Denver turnovers helping - but it was night and day to me in terms of the high level of energy and effort in this game compared to others - in particular the Miami game.

Am I the only one who noticed this, or is it just my imagination?

I know I've been told by MANY others that I've just been imagining the lack of energy in past games - with many demanding proof that there was some lack of energy in those losing efforts.

Do others feel that there was just as much energy and effort in the Miami game as we saw last night?

Or is there a feeling that perhaps this team has turned a corner, and has increased their level of play as seen against Denver?

Turned the corner.

Last night showed us what the Patriots are made of.

A very high level of energy was present and we will be fine for the rest of the season....

Like I said in other threads-this season is a MARATHON, NOT a 1600 yard windsprint.

Sure-bad losses will happen throughout the season...but the only thing you SHOULD do is to put it behind you, hang tough, learn from your mistakes, and move on to the next game.

It seems to me the Pats do this very effectively. Will this be an up-and-down season without Brady? Hard to say-but nonetheless, the better teams in this league, no matter how bad they look at times, do just that...GET BETTER as the SEASON PROGRESSES.

Look at highly talented teams like the Chargers and Cowboys-too many chiefs, few indians, and what's worse is that when things start to go badly, they lose heart and give up.

But for all those who so strongly disagreed that the Patriots were giving full effort in the Miami game or other losses - I can't help but wonder if they can NOW see the difference in performance between that game and this.

They wanted "proof" that the effort in those games wasn't up to Patriots standards. I'd suggest that put that game and this side by side and they'll have all the "proof" they need.

In any event, I think the Patriots proved to themselves that they can overcome numerous injuries and even lapses of play when they play at the level they demonstrated against Denver.

The Fins were running a gimmick game plan on O that they use in COLLEGE...it actually worked a couple of times for them, but now they've fallen back down to earth b/c that's ALL they could do, and their opponents pretty much know it.

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame in me". They'll likely have a top 5 pick when all is said and done.

I think so. Especially when compared to last week. But then again, you can say that the lack of energy last week was because of the long stay on the West Coast. Nevertheless though, it was nice to see the team playing like this. The defense, in particular, hasn't looked that aggressive since the Jets Wild Card game in 2006 IMO.

I know the pass rush was a lot better. Whether that has to do with strenth, energy, determination or whatever it needs to be more this and less the SD game.

Vince Wilfork was also on EEI today going on about the energy and intensity of this game making the big difference.

As I said, I think its tough for a team to play at the highest level of energy in every single game, but I think that the Pats have very little margin for error when they don't play with this level of energy and intensity.

In any event it was very very good to see!

You're not imagining things, we saw this in the preseason, and there were concerns then about it carrying over. It did somewhat, and seemed to get worse when things went against the team in the Miami game. There are a lot of professionals on this team, and I'm sure their pride was hurt after those tough losses, especially on the defensive side of things. Monday night, the energy and effort seemed to be on a much higher level. Seymour looked like a totally different player for one, he stopped "titty-fighting" with offensive linemen and started getting into their bodies and extending his arms to press the pocket, and was able to shed blocks consistently after that going after the QB, accounting for his sacks. If they maintain this kind of effort, especially on the defensive side, 11 or even 12 wins is not out of the question.

lol, the SD game was lethargic...

this was completely different, especially on the defense side of the ball...

ill take 4 personal fouls w/ that type of defense any day over no PF and the defense we had against SD

But do you have 100% proof of that?

Win or lose, this is the type of energy and effort that has come to represent the Patriots. This is the type of effort that makes fans stand up and applaud - win or lose.

Given the injuries that have hit this team, they could still potentially give this sort of effort and fail to win another game this season (though I highly doubt it) and I and I think all fans would heartilly stand up and cheer this team for sheer effort and enthusiasm!
