WTF Wilfork?

What did my BFF Vince do? The Slingbox was coming in and out and I missed it.

Vince was getting worked in the pile at the end of some runs and the Donkeys were saying some....not so nice things about his entire family tree. He had enough and snapped.

I love Vince. He's the man.....and a BIG man at that.

Doesn't sound like such a big deal.

It wasn't. But God forbid people on this site are just happy with a win...they would rather b!tch and moan about something.

And, it looked like Vince was going at it with the same guy that cheap shotted Rodney on the second fumble recovery. So, if he did that to Rodney, he was most likely playing a little dirty himself and Vince took issue with it.

But alot of "fans" on here aren't happy unless they are crying about people being made of glass, getting benched for a rookie, or being a blown draft pick.

I think there was more to those plays than we saw on tv. Lets not be too quick to judge Vince.

They cut to a break right before Vince got his second 15 yarder but it looked like he was going over to Shanny to say something ( probably about the broncos lovely way of illegal blocking...)

I was at the game and denver was doing a lot of pushing and hitting after the whistle espesialy #74 and #50. Besides Wilfork was prob reacting to the cut blocking that denver is notorious for, just before the first one he got right up into the ref's face upset with the play of #50. Granted he needs to be smarter about this stuff, if he feels the offensive line is taking liberties he has every right to stand up for himself the ref stood there in his little white hat and watched wilfork be tackled to the ground time and time again and kept his flag in his pocket. This one of my biggest problems with officials and the random nature in which they call holding, it's the refs job to maintain control of the game not just call touchdowns. This is one of the first things I was taught when I became a HS ref, if you don't maintain control the players will eventually take it into there own hands. I have seen this at HS games and I was one the sideline to observe college officials and seen the same stuff happen so it's not surprising to see it on the pro level.

KILL THE UMP!!!

oooops...wrong sport

We need an enforcer anyways. Vince doesn't take any crap from these fools.

Love Vince's intensity, but he has to control it better and keep his finger out of players faces! It must be a favorite gesture of his, in getting his point across! Cost us too much yardage, which in any other game, but last night, could have given the game away!

BTW, what was that moment when (I think it was Woods) our player stood over Palmer after he saw him on the ground? Was he taunting or just checking him out?

Woods saw the INT and was covering Cutler for the return (that never happened). Obviously, I'm sure he was hoping he would get back up, so he could hit him again. No taunting, just defense.

Speaking of Woods, he had a nice game last night. That's the best that I've seen from him this year.

Agreed he has to be smarter, but football is a violent emotional sport.
Woods was not taunting the ref was standing right there if he was he would have thown a flag, that was one of the interception plays, on pics there is always a defensive player looking to block the qb. Its a good chance to hit the qb with in the rules.

If this was another teams player all you people would be HOWLING about how dirty that player was. Unreal, the homerism on this board is scary. Big Vince is a nasty dude, that's a good thing, but don't make him out to be an angel when clearly he is not.

I'm glad Vince is a nasty dude, but I would never excuse him and rip another player for being dirty. It's football.

He was pissed because they were doubling him and when he broke through the double team, they were diving at the back of his knees. He finally got upset.

That's because it's a Pats fan forum (something you continually seem unable to grasp). If you want objectivity (which you are not) that pleases your supple mind go down to the corner tea room and chat with the other ladies.

I'd really like to see more of those plays and ALL the plays before that to get a flavor of what was going on there. Refs miss many things and lose control as well. Many times they see the last thing and the flag is thrown. Last week, a SD lineman held Warren down which was an obvious hold and missed when he threw a punch at Warren...but he DID catch teh Face Mask penalty. Pretty poor. Not sure if the same thing happened or anything close, but would like to see the whole thing before commenting. Too many are ready to p*** and moan at the drop of a hat. I agree, he has to be a bit smarter and not retaliate immediately, but he is an intense player. (Added..if they were going after the back of his knees, then really, the player deserved that. It's plays like that that injures players and teams that do that should have flags thrown at them immediately. That refs sit and look and do nothing that is the cause of many things like that.
Oh..for the many that say they wish to retire a Patriot...that is usually stated when they are in the midst of contract talk..Woody, Branch, others...THAT usually is the kiss of not signing here...Wilfork said that way before the contract is up, which is in an entirely different context, with to me, a deeper meaning.

Pats726 has it exactly correct.

Unless the OP knows exactly what went on that caused Wilfork to lose his cool like that, he ought to keep it to himself.

I refuse to judge VW's actions without knowing what precipitated such a response from him.

Well Duh, don't I feel stupid!:rolleyes:Thanks, I should have realized that he was reacting to the interception.

We have no idea what the Denver player diid provoke Big Vince but let's not let missing facts get in the way of a good rant. Anyone who has been around the game will tell you it's usually the retalitary response tha gets flagged.

And yes, I'm a homer and proud of it.

Regardless of what set Wilfork off, he does need to play smarter than that. Those back-to-back penalties put the ball on the 20 rather than midfield, which could have been extremely important in most games.

Man what was that? Taking a swing and poking a guy in the face? Between this, the questionable Losman hit and poking Brandon Jacobs in the eye last year, I hate to admit it but on the field Vince is kinda an a hole

I'm guessing they were sick of Broncos O-Lineman going at his knees or something - I didn't see it, but would it really surprise you? That's how Denver blocks. I support Vince, I'm sure his reaction was justified.
