Who do you miss more as a pass rushing specialist at OLB

Willie McGinest or Roosevelt Colvin?

I do not even think its close but McGinest is my pick and by a mile

But I can see those who say McGinest was at his best when this team was at thier best and Colvin played on slightly lesser talented Patriots teams and was the guy who made the team have constant pressure on the QB when we neede it so Colvin would be understandable

This years team is HORRIBLE with pressure at OLB - Vrabel is a shell of his former tenacious self and Adalius has been overpowered so I kind of miss both guys but McGinest is my choice

Yours?

McGinest always made HUGE plays, timely at that. Along with that I never recall teams running on his side of the line with success.

Willy Mac always had to be accounted for once he was health. And he always seemed to come up with a big play when it was needed

Colvin only showed flashes of being dominant. IMO if he hadn't had such a devistating injury he WOULD have been the OLB we thought he was going to be.

Big Willie!! He always made game changing plays and always needed to be accounted for.

Willie always made a big play when the Patriots needed one.

Would love to have someone like that on this years D.

Gotta go with Willie....never forget that time the Pats played the Steelers,WM caught Kordel Stewart from behind on a full run..awesome...

Does not compare with Willie stopping the Colts on the 1 in that regular season game in 2003 - best linebacker play ever for NE

I felt bad when they let Rosie go, but I literally cried when they let Willie walk(I'm a female, by the way. I'm allowed to do that.) Willie is one of my all time favorite Patriots. Some of his huge plays are my favorite Patriots memories.

willie was like a force...one we havnt seen for a while...

rosie was not close to that...neither is anyone else on defense since he left

That's like asking, who do you like better John Hannah, or Eugene Chung. :) McGinist was a beast. Colvin couldn't hold his jock.

Sincerely,

Mrs. McGinist aka Willie's Momma

Obviously the team could use the Willie McGinest of five to ten years ago, but I don't believe for a moment that the Willie McGinest of 2008 would be an improvement over the current version of either Thomas or Vrabel.

What people forget is willie came off the bench in pass rush mode. we do not have a 280 DE who can come in for thrid down alone and pass rush.

no doubt : # 55 Willie McGinest

Awesome play, but if Willie didn't get Edge, someone else would have. Ted Washington absolutely blew up that line.

Anyway, no doubt: Big Willie.

McGinest should never have left the Patriots. I'm still upset for Belipioli for that one. There should've been a way to keep the guy. I don't remember the details of whatever contract impasse happened at the time, but Willie still had plenty left in the tank.

IIRC Ol big Ted was on his belly and really not in position to make the tackle but his dormant mass still made for quite the obstacle.:p

It almost makes me think there was some kind of personality conflict because as this thread indicates, Willy seemed to always be there when we needed it most.
I thought that AD would be the heir apparent but it hasn't turned out that way....so far.
