I wasn’t at Gillette Stadium this morning — thanks to the Sox, it was a late night for many of us media types — but thanks to the Patriots’ PR staff, here’s Bill Belichick’s Q&A with the media this morning: Did everyone get a good night sleep? What about you?*I couldn’t turn it [Red Sox playoff game] [...]

Q What about you?

I couldn’t turn it [Red Sox playoff game] off. It didn’t look too good there when it was 7-0. Then it was it was 7-1. Then it was 7-4 [and] then 7-6…I thought the Red Sox played with the heart of a champion last night. It was pretty impressive.

Q You didn’t turn it off at 7-0?

Nope

I didn't even know BB was a red sox fan. But that right there is the difference between BB and many of the posters on this board. I bet the same folks that claim our 2 loses mean the season is over, turned off the TV when the sox were down 7-0.

I had heard that there was some animosity between the two teams (Red Sox and Patriots). I assumed it was an ownership deal.

Anyone know if there is any truth to that? They seem to get along well, with Guys going to Sox games and Red Sox players coming to Patriot games.

In the past I recall hearing some things like that but I think it was more Kraft jealous of the Sox popularity and not really animosity between the orginizations or those in it. And I would imagine that the jealousy if it ever was truely in existance is probably long gone with the titles and continued rise in popularity of the Pats.

I know in the past few years both Orginizations and owners have had nothign but praise for eachother. Inviting one another to share their triumphs with each teams respective fans at their Stadiums. I also believe they have many joint charity efforts as well.

Ya think that might have been because when the Patriots have a sb parade the loudest chant is "Yankees suck"

There ARE games that mean nothing that BB failed to mention

Its called clinching Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs before that particular game begins

Apparently you didn't watch the regular season game between the Giants and the Patriots. BB didn't subscribe to the theory that the game means nothing.

he was on a roll today
Earlier this week, Ellis Hobbs said he feels like the teams back is against the wall. Do you agree? I think your back is against the wall every week. Let me know when the game doesn’t matter. Let me know during the regular season when you can come in and say that this game is really no big thing. We have 16 games [and] every one of them is big. When one of those games comes up, let me know so I will be able to understand that. I think our back is against the wall. I think every game is an important game. We have 16 of them. So, every game is a big game for us. We don’t have 162 games or 81; we have 16.

You don’t think there is a danger with the players thinking that one team is going to be easier to beat than another? I think if they listen to what some people write they might buy into it but I don’t think there is any validity to it. I don’t put anything on records and what somebody did last week, last year or two weeks ago. This game will be decided on how these two teams compete just like all the other games are in the NFL. The talent level is really across the board, it is pretty close. You don’t play well, turn the ball over a couple times, give up a couple big plays, have bad field position - anybody can beat anybody. We see it every week.

That was a rare circumstance so its dumb to even mention THAT

It was a chance to go 16-0 - Only once was this in effect so of course it was meaningless to the playoffs but meant history so duh...

Otherwise guaranteed #1 seed and HFA in the playoffs is a sit down game for just about ALL starters and is a game that means N-O-T-H-I-N-G unless you are a dumb enough coach to play your starters and risk chances of injury

What is dumber is calling out a coach because he says, "every game matters" and expecting he instead qualify "most games matter, some games don't matter cause it is the end of the season and your playoff standing is set" I would rather the coach just say "every game matters"

our dumb coach played all starters VS SF in 2004 in the last game until the 3rd quarter even though they had locked in the 1st round bye. Same in 2003 vs buffalo.
Trust me, if he sits the players and loses, you will be first to complain about rust.
I would rather have them play instead of like the colts and titans having a handshake deal letting the titans win like last yr without calling a timeout at the end.
