Per Reiss he sufferred an infection following the first.

"This can happen to anyone having a surgery, but it's a relatively rare occurrence after knee procedures," DiNubile said. "The earlier you recognize and treat it - that's surgery and antibiotics - the less likely you're going to have problems down the line. The best-case scenario is that they got it early, and if everything goes right, he would be back at the same time as was expected."

Brady had 2d surgery - The Boston Globe

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

When I saw the thread title, I thought he finally got his "shoulder" injury fixed

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Certainly NOT good news.
It is definitely a rare occurrence following this type of surgery.

It may slow down the start of his rehabilitation

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Doesn't seem like a big deal...

It would not be good news if he had this corrective surgery in March/April.

It's never good news. But he's 9 months out of football.

2 Weeks after the original surgery, no big deal - For us anyway as fans - For him, it sucks bad. More discomfort and he has to go thru all of the post surgery BS again.

An Infection is not as bad as some issue with scaring and the transplant ACL, what ever kind he opt'd for.

I would assume it's a much less serious surgery to clean up infection and get antibiotic directly to the affect area.

Didn't Manning's surgery get infected as well?

Yes, and he played 4 weeks later.

Now, his original surgery was not as serious as Brady's - But it still got infected.

He needs to get off the left coast and get in a Hyperbolic chamber in Foxboro for 2-3 months. :)

Umm . . . I believe you mean hyperbaric chamber. A hyperbolic chamber would be this board since Week 1. :D :(

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

I've always thought that Boston's hospitals were the top of

the line.

Right. I'm not a very smart man.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Florio can be a turd, but here's a good nugget from his post on Brady's second surgery.

"Really, if the source close to Brady didn’t blab to Reiss, the information likely wouldn’t have come out until next year, when a then-healthy Brady will likely be giving interviews about his rehab process.

So if the information about the second surgery weren’t disclosed now, we likely would have heard various voices in the media complain come July or August that the Patriots hid the information, too, even though the condition of Brady’s knee for strategic reasons has no practical relevance until September 2009."

COLD!!!!Brady would not agree I am sure.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Had infection post surgery myself. The fact that he says it's rare to have infections after Tom's type of surgery makes it sound worse than it is. The fact is once they open you up, your open to infection. You can't totaly guard against everything, thats just impossible.

500 Points for that one.

I guess Brady was in a wheelchair on wed.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Good that it got caught early. Get well soon Tom we miss ya.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Get well Tom.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

how can this stuff happen in these sterile environments called hospitals?

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

ugh. unbelievable. this is one of the reasons the injury occurring so early in the season was a blessing in disguise. if its a small infection, which i am sure it is, im sure its not a big deal. but of course our hearts dropped when hearing the news. get well soon TB

Recent studies show that highly resistant microbes are found in hospitals and nursing homes. May be they are not as sterile as they used to be.
