From the Pats website:

As veteran safety Rodney Harrison pointed out Wednesday, everyone on defense should share the blame for Sunday’s meltdown after allowing 404 yards of total offense.

“We all have an opportunity to play better,” Harrison said. “Whether you missed a tackle, whether you missed a coverage, something mental – the mental aspect of the game – we all can play better. Obviously, in a loss like that it’s disappointing, so it’s easy to sit back from a media standpoint or even a team standpoint and try to point fingers. We’re sticking together.

“We’ve been through times before. There’s a lot of football left. From week to week, people jump on and off the bandwagon, but it’s what the 53 guys in this locker room think.

Rodney's going to have to be a leader. in that secondary (if he ever plays there). I still think Deltha will do well here. It would be easier if he could confidently move his family out this way. It's gotta be mentally tough only seeing your wife and kids one day a week.

I am not jumping off the Bandwagon Rodney. I am with you the whole way.

Yes, we need more of Rodney living up to his rep...

Re: Harrison on the defensive meltdown.

This "Defensive Meltdown" (as it's being called) is nothing new. This secondary, even with Asante Samuel has cost the Pats no less than TWO Super Bowl Chamionships in the last 2 seasons. They folded against both Mannings, and that reality is hard to swallow, but it can't be changed. I think the Capers addition is a measure to address the situation, but it's still a work in...well, I have yet to see "progress".

Before you blame the defense for the playoff failures you should ask yourself two questions:

In the last 30 years, how many teams have scored 14 or less points in the super bowl and come out victorious?

(that would be 0).

What was the Pats longest drive in the last 37 minutes of the 2006 AFCCG?

(that would be 34 yards).

Football is a complimentary game my friend.

You are AN IDIOT!

I am not off the bandwagon. I'm right here, day in and day out, Win or Lose. I'm trying to dispassionately analyze what I see, not shout platitudes, like "Rodney is the man" (even though I agree with that one). We are here to talk football, right? Maybe you should go where you belong...to the Jests board.

Did you just call Rodney "an idiot" and "the man" all in the same post!?

You're just as bad, homer. An honest assesment of a teams performance does not make someone a fair weather fan. Your idea of talking football goes like this: "The pats RULE"!, "right but they have issues right now with the secondary", "The pat's RULE", "true but what about the d?", The pats RULE and you're and IDIOT for not seeing that!!!!!"

Your a total homer, and it's laughable!

Damn - Rodney sounds mad... it almost seems like they feel disrespected and are using that to pull together. That's somewhat unusual for this team! ;)

Well as a Patriots fan I can understand why Harrison feels disrespected.

Harrison plays defense. I judge the Patriots one game at a time (I got that from Mr Belichick :)) Based on one game (the last one) Harrison and his defensive teammates need to earn my respect. They had no heart last Sunday, or they had a pi$$ poor game plan.

Quite a few fans here would know about having no heart on Sundays...

You be the kind of fan you want to be. I will be the kind of fan I want to be.

If you feel that you are a better fan than me.

Good for you :singing:

i love rodney but some of our vets are at a point where the mind thinks faster than the body can react on the field.
For starters i want someone to deliver a hit somewhere and get physical.

Only you never frame your assessments rationally so when a smack talking kneeferk fanboy who calls himself a lifer says this is an honest assessment of a 3-1 teams performance 4 games into a season it makes genuinely rational fans snicker at his scathing indictment of them as "homers".

"They have some issues right now with the secondary", "THEY SUCK!!!!". "They have to score in the red zone", "CASSEL SUCKS!!! MARONEY SUCKS!!! MCDANIEL'S SUCKS!!! BELICKECK ISN'T GOD - HIS DRAFTS SUCK!!!

It was not a one game thing. THEY SUCK!...

Spewing venom at your own team when they struggle, particularly given thier record over the last 7 seasons, is what makes you a fair weather fan.

I don't feel it, I know it.

How big would it be to shut down the NFL's No.1 offense? Hey if Rodney's so pissed how about he does something? Not trying to be a **** but I want to see the D perform for once this season. It feels like they've fell apart since week 2.
