Lets Face it -Pats are an average team at best

Phans?

If the Pats are average, than who's elite?

The Broncos, Colts, Cowboys, Chargers, Jaguars and Redskins all have the same or more losses than us. Bills, Giants and Steelers have a one game advantage and the Kerry Collins led Titans are the only undefeated team in the NFL.

They have been so far. Will they be better at the end of the season? History says yes, but that's why some of us will keep watching! (And others will get tired of posting silly topics.)

with a .600 win % I would say above average. not the best but better than avg

There's certainly plenty of room for improvement. I don't think anyone can deny that!

sad but true phans!

Why is it sad? What's your point?

According to a former Patriots coach, you are what your record says you are.

That would make the Patriots a slightly better than average team as of right now.

But unless I'm mistaken, the playoffs don't start in October.

Perhaps you'd be surprised to learn what the record of last year's Super Bowl Champion was after their first five games as well.

That would be 3-2 for those of you who don't care to look it up - or a .600 winning percentage.

Perhaps you'd also be surprised to learn that last year's Super Bowl Champion squeaked into the playoffs as a wildcard team at 10-6... a slight improvement over their first five games to a .625 winning percentage.

They were, after 5 games, and as of the playoffs, when VERY few gave them a chance to win the Lombardi, an average team at best by your criteria - and yet peaked not in October, but in January in February.

If you consider yourself a knowledgeable football fan you shouldn't be surprised by any of this - but apparently you are.

And if your point was to illustrate that average teams in October win Super Bowls, and that team with average QBs have also won Super Bowls, you've done your job, and I thank you, as I'm now feeling MUCH better about the Patriots chances this season!

:)

So we are an average team....

God forbid that happening.

As other have posted so far, we have only played 5 games.

We as fans of a team that this website represents should stand by them no matter what....

All these posts about the end of the world and how Cassel should be pulled out and be benched are getting old fast.

This is our team guys....and if you do not want to support them, I suggest you log off this website and go elsewhere....

As long as they win 10 games and correct a lot of their problems by the playoffs, the Pats have a fighting chance. There is no complete team this year in the NFL. With the Pats' schedule, it is possible.

Phans? Is that word the result of a spelling deficiency or are you confusing the Pats with the Phins?

I may be suffering from full-on denial at this point, but 3-2 (.600) approximating a 10-6 record over 16 games is not average by anyone's standards. That would be the 2005 Patriots' record, and for purposes of this season I would welcome it. I thought that team had a chance in the post-season.

There are plenty of issues to fix, but I will keep watching to see if this team can pull it together in time for a playoff run. Average? No. Underperforming to date in some areas? Yes.

Can't we just move this guy's "phreads" into the Visitors Lockerroom?

True. But they were an average team in 01 too.

True. But they were an average team in 01 too.

I know D wins championships, but the Bucs won it in '02 with a VERY, VERY average offense-a 40 year old QB, slow and flatfooted WRs(and MeShawn was giving Gruden headaches to boot), an erratic OL, and a trio of below average RBs.

Like I said-D may win championships, but having seen alot of Bucs games that year, they were absolutely PATHETIC at times on O.

why is there a daily thread with almost the same headline ?

There is a new place for threads like this and this one will be going there. This is the second on for this new poster that I have moved there. I hope this is not a trend.
