It is time for Crable? (merged)

There isn't much to lose at this point. Why not play him. Why sit him until he "learns the playbook". How do you know he doesn't know it already? Maybe he'll "learn" it better on the field?

Playing a 55 year old Vrabel who is in a wheelchair because he "knows the playbook" instead of a young guy who can actually move may not be the smartest thing.

These idiots would probably rather have Crable active instead of Vrabel.

So we're idiots for seeing that our pass rush has all but disappeared the last three weeks? I guess the no flaming rules must not apply to moderators. Maybe Crable is a fix, maybe he isn't. But, as anorexic as our pass rush is, why would it hurt to insert him on situational downs?

I don't think they would have Vrabel inactive to play Crabel. Not sure though. Just seems like a bad plan. But who else do make inactive?

Considering the way our special teams looked at times against the Chargers, surely one of them would be under consideration. I wouldn't deactivate Vrabel either. My post was more tongue in cheek but I guess it didn't come across like that.

Let's Go Crable

At the beginning of the season when Crable was not being activiated I understood the reason. The game time roster is full and Crable is the odd man out. Now as the season moves on I wonder if this is such a good idea. Our pass rush is almost non-existant, we need some speed on the outside. I think he should be on the next active roster and I see no reason to leave him off of it.

When Maroney and Lamont were both held from the last game due to injuries doesn't that mean that 2 other players were bumped up from the inactive list? If this is the case then one of them should have been Crable (I do not know who it was).

Is there something I am missing besides "BB knows best"?

What, aside from pre-season, gives you the idea that Crable is ready to be a pass-rusher in the NFL?

Re: Let's Go Crable

The fact that he is a rookie makes it hard to know. I mean that arguement can be used for any rookie. All we have to go on is preseason and college. Crable was drafted in the third round. Thats pretty good. He did look well in pre season and not always against scrubs.
Many web sites had him listed as an above average pass rusher during the draft.

Re: Let's Go Crable

Just how many Crable threads do we need? People, look down on the page before starting your own thread on the same topic.

But don't you think that BB and the Patriots coaches have a whole lot more information to judge him on, so the fact that he has been inactive probably indicates he isn't ready, or at least isn't better than the guys ahead of him?

no no, that can't possibly be the case! a lot of people on this message board have seen Crable play in the pre-season and also read a lot about him from scouts. BB is just being really stubborn in refusing to see what is so dang clear to nearly everyone here on patsfans.com....someday he'll realize his mistake and call us each individually to apologize

Re: Let's Go Crable

While I hold high hopes for Crable, I see players like Guyton get some playing time and I think it must be indicitive of the players ability or maybe even health. Maybe all he can do is rush. Maybe he's really not even that good at that.

For those dreaming of Crable, he's an option to activate in place of Jarvis Green.

Injuries who might be inactive for the Denver game:

* inactive at SD
- Jorden*
- Maroney*
- Alexander*
- Washington*
- Kaczur
- Green

Add in Gutierrez and the Pats would need one more man for the inactive roster. Connelly, Crable, and Britt are the healthy inactives from SD. Britt will probably be activated for Kaczur. Crable makes the most sense to activate, he at least has some speed to chase a scrambling Jay Cutler.

The problem is the Pats will want to keep Cutler in the pocket, he's more effective when he gets outside the pocket - and Crable will need to anchor better to contain Cutler. There was something I read that claimed Cutler does a lot of three step drops - I think it was a comparison being made between Cutler and Rivers sack numbers - if this was a realistic discussion of how Denver uses Cutler, Crable would be a good choice for cutting down throwing lanes with his long arms.

Bottom line: Crable seems more likely to be activated this week due to the increased number of injuries likely to be resting Monday. For that reason more than any other, the Crable fan club may get to see their boy take some reps.

We now pause for the wild celebration followed by the inevitable riot.

I confess, I'm the reason Crable isn't starting. I told Bill the kid needed to be stronger before taking on TEs like Manumanulua or OTs like McNeal. I know people who don't have Bill's ear will be angry and jealous, but I'm doing it for his own good - and because I know his Uncle Phil from New Hampshire and Training Camp, and I owed the family a favor to keep the kid from being ripped by the fans for rookie mistakes. Put in that context, it's not my fault, it's all the fanboy's fault, yeh, you bunch of wankers putting on those poor kids while they're learning - BACK OFF! I can't believe how you bunch are so mean to poor Crable!

I think you are correct here. With the injuries mounting it looks like Crable finds his way onto the active roster. I am excited to see him on the field.

As you know, I have stated that I'm not disappointed that Crable is not playing and has been inactive.

Sure he looked good in pre-season but now you cannot play everyone during the regular season. Give him time to build himself up and maybe he will be active toward the end of the season.

A much more reasonable view than the one taken by that other fellow on Planet, I had to witch slap him for unreasonable expectations, sheesh.

OT: How's the golf game? Found any orange balls in the rough so you can play through the winter?

I really wish he was on the field. He HAS to be better than Vrabel. We havent had a pass rush from him since early last year, and even then, a lot of sacks came at times he was not blocked. I love Vrabel, I love Bruschi, but their minds can only take them so far. We need a freak like Crable out there, even if it is just to pass rush. The guys a ball hawk

It suddenly dawns on me, but if Crable is activated for Denver, there are people on this forum who will think I'm telling BB how to run the team....
