I think one of the most interesting stories about Brady's injury was it's $1.5 Billion affect on the Fantasy Football Market.

I agree that I like that part of it, but if we want to be intellectually honest we should be mentioning that there are problems this year that go way beyond Brady's absence. They're more of a reason for our dropoff than Brady being gone.

I wonder....what impact it has on the ratings?? in fact..injuries in general...pushing ratings down. I ask because Goodell is all of a sudden interested in them...a few weeks down the road...maybe ratings driven??

Yikes. Not being into Fantasy Football I had NO idea that much money was involved. Whenever there's that kind of dinero floating around bad things can happen. Anyway-our Tommy's causing the 'FF Market' to practically crash

I disagree. For every fan in New England who is less interested, there's a fan in Buffalo or Nashville that is more interested in the NFL now. It's a wash. Did you notice how quickly there was a national media buzz about Denver and their offense after just two games, for example? Yes, there is an adverse affect on games already scheduled for SNF and MNF that feature teams that are no longer must-see-TV, but there are a few of those type of games every year. In fact, that's why SNF became more of a feature than MNF - they can adjust the schedule as the season goes on and get better matchups on Sunday night.

We're just noticing the injuries/ratings angle more this season because it's happening to the Pats.

Most people believe the differences have NOTHING to do with the O-line looking completely different (read: porous) than last year? With the failure of a pass rush most notably from Vrabel and Colvin? I like to think the board is a little more open minded than that.

I was more asking a question than anything else...especially with Brady and other top players out. I agree theoretically it's a wash..in fact with MORE teams having a chance, ratings should be higher, right? I don't know what the ratings have been comparitively..this year to last. I know last year there were games that were record setting..haven't heard that this year. My larger question was one about Goodell and his suffen interest in injuries and speculating that MAYBE it had to do with ratings...(lower ones..) It may be the case that they are the same..or higher..Just curious as to where they are.
As addendum...the only thing I found was that late in Sept that Monday night football viewership was up almost 20%. Not sure it's across the board..but quite interesting.

That's a remarkable article, especially coming from a mediot who, IMO, hasn't always been fair to the Pats.

As to where TB belongs on the all time list, the grade there is "Incomplete," as far as I'm concerned. In the unlikely event that it turned out that his injury was career-ending or effectively career-ending (i.e., he's not the same when he returns), then I think he'll always be on anybody's list as one of the "best ever" along with Baugh, Bradshaw, Elway, Favre, Graham, Luckman, Marino, Montana, Starr, Staubach, Tittle, Unitas and maybe one or two others that I've overlooked because I'm in a hurry. It might not be the "top three," but that list represents pretty rarified air for anyone who knows anything about the NFL and understands that the list covers nearly 100 seasons (including before the modern era and the formation of the NFL itself).

If he comes back and puts up another three or so seasons of great stats and adds a fourth ring and another MVP or SB MVP, then I think he'll belong in the discussion of who was the greatest ever from that list.
