After all the beatdowns the Patriots have put on the Chargers in big games, this was their chance to get a bit of revenge, only it's totally empty. It'd be like hunting down some guy that killed a member of your family, only when you find him years later, he's now a quadriplegic. Sure, you can beat him within an inch of his life, but so what? He's nothing but a shell of the man who ruined your life. Of course it's no fun to be a Pats fan at the moment either, but we have an excuse at least. San Diego is still a .500 now, no matter how badly this game ends for the Patriots.

Doesn't matter...

the chargers kicked the pats ass.. and that's how it shall be written..
no asterisks.. nothing..

I doubt that's how a Charger player, coach, or fan is going to look at it.

The logo on the helmet and coach are still the same.

That's kind of a naive take. The players and coaches will be glad to win a game, and the Chargers fans will be glad to win, but it can't be nearly as satisfying without having Brady in there. Are you really going to get that excited about beating a guy with a broken leg in a race? No matter how much you hate the guy, you'd rather beat him at full strength. Like how I feel about Peyton Manning.

We've lost to the Chargers before. What's the big deal?

i stated that when brady got hurt

i wanted to win this game of course, but it is a hollow victory

i can't believe NE couldn't get pressure on rivers tonight, that i just don't get, our oline is susceptible to a good pass rush, what happened to NE's?

They sucked.. your o-line played better.. schemed better and just plain and simply kicked their ass.
Good win

thanks and for the record i am kinda pissed

the chargers don't blitz enough or even go deep as much as they did tonight

i don't know why they don't , but they should more often

i wish we had a DC like jim johnson

They, along with everyone else in the NFL, knows one of our weaknesses, the CB position and lack of pass rush.

SD could care less about beating the Pats in the regular season. The entire game they were jeering the refs. It's like they were only watching the game after the play ended just to see what the ref did so they could boo them.

Oh, there's definately an asterisk if the best QB in football is not playing. Are you out of your mind? Everyone in the country knows if they beat the Patriots without Tom Brady, they REALLY didn't beat the Patriots.

If you beat the Pats with Brady, you've beaten the best. If you beat the Pats this year, you're beating an average team at best. There is no debate here dtbrks and that is how it has been written.

No one cares how people will view this 10 years from now. What happened tonight is all that matters. If you visit the Charger board tonight, you'd see most of them saying it's really not a big deal deal beating the Pats without Brady.

Had the Giant beaten the Patriots in last years SB and Brady had been unable to play, EVERYBODY would be discrediting their win. But, since they beat us with Brady, they're getting all the credit they deserve.

And protection up the middle on offense.

Injuries are part of the game. That's why you need depth at every position. The Chargers were hammered with injuries to Tomlinson, Gates and Rivers in the playoff game last year. Winning teams don't get an asterisk when the other team has key injuries. They get a W.

Actually, I feel pretty good. I assume you're talking about a Brady-less team? Huh, I dont really give a rat's a**. You're without your offensive star and we're without our defensive star. And I know that's your excuse. It will be your excuse all year long I'm sure. Now realize that it's a team game and you should be more than a one man show. That's what NE fans constantly preach, right?

Are you reading the charger fans responses, they don't CARE.

in 10 years the stats sheet will show 30-10. DONE

If you're a fan of the Chargers, there is little satisfaction of beating the Pats tonight. Just as Patriots fans knew we didn't beat the real Chargers in last years playoff game. Had we lost that game, we would have been screaming about how we lost to half a Chargers team.

If you don't agree that Chargers fans would feel a lot more REDEMPTION had they beaten the Patriots with Brady vs. tonights expected win, you don't understand football. There was no vengence for Chargers fans tonight. Sure, they're happy to get a "W", but it wasn't close to being the same feeling had Brady played the game.

ANY team that beats the Pats this year will know why they won...because Brady didn't play

San Diego should have won the Denver and Carolina games and be 5 and 1..... They have the talent.... The Patriots really don't if you think about it hard.

You never get vengeance in the regular season. You get it in the playoffs.

That's pretty stupid, but it's to be expected from a troll. Merriman is a great disruptive force, and he's not half as important to your team as Rivers is. QB is a privileged position, face it. No one wins without their star quarterback consistently, unless they catch lightning in a bottle with the backup. I'm not saying the Patriots played well, but if you don't think this would have been a very different game with Brady in there, you're delusional.
