Facts about Manny Ramirez

It's kindof funny how one of the facts they missed was how Manny refused to play with a fake injury (and then was insulted that the Sox didn't believe him).

Or how many times he failed to give 100%, running out fly balls

Or any of the other facts that might have translated into one or two more wins this season.

... not that there's any advantage to being the Division winner rather than the wild card

Sheehan also failed to mention that the main criticism of Manny was not his performance, but his actions in his last days here.

Sheehan didn't argue that Manny talked himself out of Boston, he didn't argue that Manny was becoming a distraction, he didn't argue that Manny pushed down the secretary, he didn't argue that his teammates thought him being traded was for the best, and he didn't argue that Manny faked an injury. Those were the things that soured the relationship with Manny and got him traded, and those were the things that no one has really argued against.

We'll never know how hard Manny was or wasn't trying, even when he decided not to sit out with fake injuries

What can't be denied is that he refused to honor his contract that allowed for 2 more option years. He hapilly took the guranteed cash but then refused to comply with the terms of the contract.

That forced us to trade him, rather than let him tank the season as he clearly showed he would and could.

So perhaps he cost us 2-4 wins this year at most. That's the Division championship and home field advantage.

What he cost us in the future will never be known. Having to let two tradeable players go to get rid of him (not to mention paying his salary) could cost us the ability to use those players in a trade for say, extra pitching next year.

In a perfect world Manny would be hitting the way he can (and is in LA) and we'd have won the Division, had home field advantage, and the ability to trade young players for proven veterans next year.

Those are the minor facts that the author left out.

A series of great points, hits the nail right on the head. Bottom line is this clowns antics cost us the division, plain and simple. He's hurt/skills are declining then he goes to LA and looks like Superman, basically carrying the Dodgers to the NLCS, that is a load of horsesh!t, plain and simple.

The crap he pulled to shoot his way out of town was pathetic. He should be ashamed of himself, him and that piece of trash Boras, the carpet bagger he is.

In a perfect world, we beat the doofin rays and the Dodgers to win the whole thing................we'll see how it plays out. Both teams need to get there first.

Looks like the dodgers pitching didnt do such a great job today. This series could be over in 5 games.I will give the dodgers one game.

Facts about Manny Ramirez....

He's a a--hole and quitter.

Facts, or no.

I quite happy with the guys we got here and the BS "manny" saga is behind us. It's kinda nice not to be in the middle of a ****ing soap opera right now and we can just focus on BB instead of the "Manny being manny" crap

Anyone see Manny pose after hitting a double off the wall that he thought was a homer yesterday? How about Jason Bay hustling to the ball and gunning out Tori Hunter at second? Could Manny have made it home on Lowrie's single?

Not missing this clown at all, he's the most one-dimensional player in baseball and only people that watch hitting and nothing else can possibly say otherwise. Good riddance.

I could live with that one dimensional player because he is a clutch hitter. It was time for him to go because it was affecting the team very badly.

Jason Bay is a better ball player then Manny Ramirez. There's a fantasy member here who still proclaims that Manny was loved by his teammate, lol. Bay needs to be signed to a long term contract. Not only did he throw Hunter out, but he also backed up third base on an overthrow a few games back. Would Manny have done that? I also didn't see Bay flip his helmet rounding third as he scored the winning run against the Angels. Let's not forget the most memorable play of Manny's fielding days at Fenway, when he dived and caught a liner out in the outfield. The only problem was that the liner was a throw from center by Damon.

Who are we kidding here?Bay has been an excellent fit so far but he has a long way before he is Manny Ramirez.Ramirez was a big part in those 2 championships.

My guess is most of the people who responded childishly to my post didn't bother to read the article. Not that surprising.

I've never chided Manny in his contributions to the two championships. But the fact of the matter is Bay is a better ballplayer, one that the team can count on.

Exactly - is there any doubt that Ramirez contributed to the two championships? None.

But that doesn't change the fact that Ramirez cannot be counted on as a teammate - which is pretty much the lowest insult in baseball.

Just more insane Mass sheeple buying into the media garbage whenever the Sox try to smear a star leaving town.

Manny played GREAT his last month here, he didn't 'tank'.

You're crazy if you think this isn't all SCOTT BORAS' work. Manny pretty much admitted as much on TBS last week that it was all Boras.

Why blame the Rainman/Forrest Gump prodigy who doesn't know what is going on, when behind his back is Senator Palpatine pulling the strings?

Because it was the Rainman/Forrest Gump prodigy that hired Senator Palpatine this year. Manny knew what he was getting into when he fired his agent in favor of Boras.

And the Red Sox don't smear players on their way out. The media does. The Red Sox don't control the media. How are the smears on Manny any different than the smears on any other player than has left a Boston sports franchise on bad terms?

You're joking, right? Maybe they don't control the media, but they sure have a ton of influence with all the major Boston tv and radio media outlets, that is pretty clear.

No, I'm not joking. And how exactly do they have an ton of influence on the media? Theo left the organization because of the media incessantly writing negative stories about the supposed turmoil between those in the FO. The relationship between the Red Sox and the media is far from rosy.

And again, how are the smears on Manny any different than the smears on any other player than has left a Boston sports franchise on bad terms?
