He sure is tearing it up in Cleveland! Well---not quite, he hasn't even played yet this season. It just amazes me what happens to former Patriots WRs and their luck with other NFL teams. It seems like their careers end once they sign their FA contract.

Re: What ever happened to Donte Stallworth?

Look at The Twig in Seattle and Givens...

Re: What ever happened to Donte Stallworth?

Stallworth hasn't played a down yet this season because of (stop me if you heard this one before) a hamstring injury. Ironically, there were no Stallworth made of glass threads thus far this season.

I think he gets his first playing time this weekend.

Re: What ever happened to Donte Stallworth?

I really enjoyed Stallworth in a Pats uni last year--he had some spectacular plays for the Pats and would just wow you with his athleticism and yes his durability! That one handed catch against JAX in the playoffs and the 4th quarter sideline catch against Indy were some of the most important plays of the season. Great hands, the only catch I think he dropped last year was against JAX in the playoffs, otherwise Brady would have had a perfect completion percentage that game. Pats fans didn't really care much though about his departure, he was really a luxury for this team.

Now he's gone and all of a sudden in CLE he's a nobody. Amazing

Well, keep in mind Givens hasn't played in more than 2 years because of that devastating knee injury.

Re: What ever happened to Donte Stallworth?

It's the other way around in this case. We actually got very lucky with Stallworth last year, as we did with injuries in general. When he was brought in (at the time as our #1 WR) he was known to be extremely injury prone and I remember other fans laughing at us for it, but the Pats got a pretty good year out of him. Around the middle of the year he disappeared for a while, I suspect for injury reasons, but he was pretty solid all around. Now that he's left it seems that he's back to his old ways.

Welker dropped one also..Welker's was probably an easier catch, just a flair to the flat.

Is Givens ever going to play again? What's his status?

If he is ever healthy again, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Pats uniform again.

Ditto that for Meion Branch, though he's under contract for the next few years.

Donte's only full year was last year, no? Weird.

I wonder how much of a factor he'd have been had we not gotten Moss. Until the trade, I envisioned him as the deep threat that Moss turned out to be.

Not anytime soon. PFW guys said he's still having a lot of problems with it.

I wouldn’t mind either Branch or Stallworth back on next year’s team if the cost were low enough. They are perfect complementary players for a 2009 Super Bowl Run.

Not me. The Twig is Dead To Me.

Givens I'd like to see back but realisticly, he's done. Fortunately for him he's made his megabucks and need not ever work again.

Stallworth would be fine with me. Great YAC but face it, he IS made of glass.

Come to think of it, all 3 are injury proned (sic).

What happened to Dante is we essentially traded him to the Browns for a 6th Rd. Comp Pick unless he rebounds and gives us a fifth.

Correction: I think we didn't pick up his option, so we essentially didn't get anything.
I beleive that's how it works.

Stallworth didn't drop a pass in the jax game. Welker dropped one and Watson was fouled on the other but no call.

i liked DS i thought he did a good job with the patriots

In 2009 as a Gaffney replacement on a prove it deal I GUARANTEE you Tommy would take the twig back in a heartbeat...and his opinion counts! It would be funny to see him come back here and excel again...in the system.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but if Deion Branch wanted to come back here for the same amount of money he made before or less, I would scoop him up in a heartbeat. It just seems like he and Brady were inside each other's heads. Great on-field chemistry between the two. I know I'm probably going to be hosed for this but so be it.

Yah, but I am a fan pissed off at the Twig's selfish GFY to the Pats 2006 season, not Tommy Boy with an unrequited love for The Twig who BTW has not been able to get out onto the field much at all since leaving the Pats. Talk about "made of glass".

Disclaimer: I was once a major fan of The Twig in his 1st training camp. He was phenomenal.

David Givens holds a great record which is 7 consecutive playoff games with a TD catch.....

Branch holds a great record with catches in a super bowl (tie) and catches in consecutive super bowls (tie?).

Good players here. Remember, the plain truth is that the Patriots haven't won jack without either of them. Obviously the receivers last year were much much better than those two but......it seems like they fit the mold and got it done and most importantly, Brady was comfortable with them.
