Eli's contract

8 straight games with strong showings will pot you $100 million. Makes sense....

Doesn't JaMarcus Russell make more than either Brady or Peyton Manning?

There will always be some free agent making more than the league MVP each year. That's the way it works when the cap goes up 8-10% each year.

And the top couple (overall) draft picks often are the highest paid players on their team.

Hell, everyone makes more than Brady (Being sarcastic, but not too far from the truth). If you remember Upshaw was VERY VERY upset at Tommy for agreeing to his deal. The NFLPA thought, at that time, that he should have held out for MAJOR cash and that would in turn have had a large affect on future contacts, Free Agent QB money and Tagged QB's.

Seems like a crazy amount of money to be paying Eli. The defense is the catalyst of the Giants, not the QB. As well as he's playing now, there are several other QB's playing better than him. And while there may be an uncapped year, the real motive of the league's owners is to lower the cap and the amount of money being paid to players - which would make a contract of this size even more fiscally irresponsible.

who cares how much money he makes. he still isnt in the top 5 in the current nfl season.

I'll go one better - Who cares how much money he makes, he's not a Patriot.

The more these teams spend on top tier players, the less they have to spend in free agency.

Spend away!!!

After all the money they gave to Plexiglass it doesn't surprise me. How did that one work out for them?

bad idea for teh Giants
better to spread it out for when Jacobs & others contracts run out

This is a business. Brady should have asked for more. I respect that he didnt. Look at it like this....If Brady comes back and cant play the Pats will cut him. He will never make up that money. Anyone think the Patriots will take care of Brady? No. If Brady had gotten what he deserved in a contract this team would not be winning now. No one will care if he can not win any more.

Brady makes a crap load of money from endorsements for 3 reasons -- he's great, his team is in the top 3 every season, and he's in a big market. There's plenty of players who have 2 out of the 3 and only make a fraction of what Brady makes in endorsements. If Brady asked to break the bank, there's a good chance reason #2 or reason #3 would no longer apply and he'd be making less money overall.

If he gets that contract, maybe he will be less inclined to make more commercials like that line of Oreo commercials. I curse that vile cookie for embracing him and his brother as its spokespersons.

I don't know if it's because I'm slightly medicated right now or what, but I just laughed for a good minute at that.

Yea, but NEARLY as much as he could if he choose to go the Peyton route and sign up to endorse everything that gets put in front of him.

When was the last time you saw Tommy in a Commercial? Local or National?
