OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs. Pats

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

I figured Chambers would be out, and with Gates having problems with his hip, that leaves Vincent Jackson as their primary receiving threat. V-Jack has had some good games against us using his size to his advantage, but I wonder how he'll do as the number one WR. It will be interesting to see what kind of defensive game plan BB and the defensive coaching staff come up with for this game.

Oh, that's too bad.

No it's not.

Yeah, somehow I don't think very many fans of opposing teams were bummed to know their team would not be facing Tom Brady this season.

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

Jackson is pretty good, and a very tough matchup for our smaller cornerbacks. He had 3 TDs in the playoffs last year. But with Gates clearly banged up and Tomlinson might be banged up too. Still a very dangerous offense though.

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

Dont ever want to see a guy injured, but chambers always seems to do well versus us. should be a help to our D

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

I figured he would be out based on how he was carted off the field last Sunday. Well, this will be two less than 100% offenses facing each other.

I don't relish injuries and would rather face them at 100% on both teams (including Brady), but I think the Chargers' offense could be stalled on Sunday. Chargers fans have to worry about the long term health of both Tomlinson and Gates.

It is strange that injuries have derailed (to various degrees) the top three AFC teams from last year. How weird is it that the Pats may be in better shape for the rest of the year while losing Brady than either San Deigo or Indianapolis.

Did any of you see that NY Giants no-name WR that came in for replacing the suspended Burress on sunday?

I hope Chambers replacement does not copy that guys performance (He is such a no name I can't remember his name)

Giants? Wasn't that Hickson?

As for Chambers, it is too bad, Chris could always be counted on for some key drops at critical times. I guess that kid from LSU will have to step up for him.

I think you are right Box - Hickson was amazing as a replacement

Burress may want to behave and come back....fast

Irony with a capital I...

Hickson played against one of the worst teams in the league. The seahawks are soft to begin with, and worse just seem to fold immediately if they play a 1pm game on the east coast. Seahawks played 8 men in the box to stop jacobs, and left their cornerbacks out to dry. I wouldn't take much from that game. On the other hand, Chambers replacement will have to play against that pats D, which is much better than seattles.

yeah, they do. Gates has never been the same since that toe injury. He's now got a bad hip, and can't get much burst off the line, or anywhere for that matter.
Tomlinson suddenly looks very old. People are wondering if they made a big mistake in letting turner go. In watching 2 of their games, he reminds me of Sean Alexander last year. He basically gets to the line and falls down at the first hint of contact.

If these 2 continue to play like this, and with chambers out, I think pats fans will be surprised how little firepower their offense has.

Don't know how Chambers was with Miami, but with the Chargers he has made some incredible catches and has very few drops. None that come to mind. Guy is a great team guy too, seems to work hard and never runs his mouth (something I admire in a player).

True. Dude is a gamer but he has not been himself.
Tomlinson suddenly looks very old.
That can happen when you are playing with a dilocated big toe that you are playing through. People gave him a hard time for not playing in the AFCCG last year. Now they're giving him a hard time for not playing well despite a very significant injury.

Haven't heard that in San Diego.

I've seen all 5, dude is hitting the holes hard and has been "this" close to breaking some big ones. Don't judge him yet, he'll be back, he's still got it.

Have to agree with you there. Going to be tough with 3 of the biggest playmakers on offense unable to contribute or even threat to contribute as they have in the past.

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

Hey pao, what's the word with Gates and his hip injury? Curious if it sounds like it's going to be a season-long problem? Also, what about Rivers and the knee? I know he had rib problems, but I thought I read somewhere that he's looked a little gimpy a couple of times since his return.

Ugh, seems my stat site went belly up, but he was serious Jekyl & Hyde in Miami with photo-op catches and crunch time drops that had to be killing both of Miami's fans. He was a league deader in dropped passes at the time, I'll have to do some research and try to find a new stat site...the one I did find didn't have him listed for the AFC drop leaders so that's a plus. Sounds like having an accurate and consistent QB has helped him out.

Re: OT: Chargers WR Chris Chambers not expected to play vs Pats

Was reported today that Chamber's injury may not exclude him from play Sunday. He was walking on it yesterday, indicating it felt better already. He said he isnt sure if he could play. Personally, I doubt it, but it's possible at this point.

sounds like we're just trying to hide the injury, although stuff like that has no effect on a team that prepares like NE does.

personally, it would be cool to see craig davis play #2, but i would love to see malcolm floyd get a shot sunday, that guy is capable of big things when given a chance.

It was pretty much impossible to evaluate Chambers in Miami, because the QBs throwing to him were so bad that he could have been the best WR in the league and nobody would have known.
