Patriots could give Chargers a spark

This game is crucial for us and has alot of implications now and possibly later in the season. I dont see it quite the same for you guys, except that it might be a good test for Cassell and your offense (maybe...depends on if our D decides to show up). But I read that article in the UT this morning and I agree, this game could be pivotal for us.

Nice article. I had forgotten that there isn't a bigger collection of losers, d-bags, and jacka**es on any NFL roster 1-53 than San Diego. Man, what a bunch of tools. Seriously, I'm all for rivalries and competitiveness, I respect the Colts tremendously, but the Chargers, they're just a bunch of talented morons.

it maybe an important game for you but here in lies the difference between the pats and chargers. The pats dont dictate what happenened in the past to get them fired up. they show up , they lose they take it as it is. Chargers for a start can stop complaining about anything which doesnt go their way and wondering why they have lost a game and instead just admit they sucked in those games and move to the next game. There is always something or someone in the chargers thinking of what shouldve/couldve have happened instead of what they themselves did.
i lost a lot of respect for Lt last yr when the chargers were doing bad to start the season and he was indirectly blaming norv and so were other chargers. That is the attitude of millionares and professionals who are talented to play but blame anyone but themselves when they suck.

The reality is that the Colts and Chargers games won't be as exciting this year because the Patriots, unlike previous years, are not even close to being locks to win their own division.

We're in a fight to win our own division, the outcome of the Colts and Chargers games and their effect down the road seems so far down the road right now that it's sad.

It's not like it's easy to think about getting a bye week at this point. We've got 12 straight weeks of football without a break before the playoffs. That's awesome as fans, but it's going to be brutal on the team.

Actually, the team as a whole has done that after every loss this year. The team blamed nobody but themselves after the loss to Miami. In fact, they've checked themselves after the wins too. The Pats dont use things that have happened in the past to fire them up?? Bullsh*t! What about comments made by our players that your team has in turn used as "fuel" for the next games? They didnt use the throttling we did over you guys in 2005 at Gillette for motivation for the next meeting? What about spygate...wasnt that supposed to be extra incentive to play better? You guys are constantly talking about extraciricular garbage being used as motiviation. But now, you're pulling the 'ol holier than thou routine again.

Don't forget that in 2001 the Pats didn't have their bye until week 16.

dude , i mean extracurricular garbage related to the other team. interesting you mentioned the 2005 game. the next we played was in the AFCCDiv game.
when did you hear any of the pats players bring up that game before the playoff game ? Fans yes. Pats motivate with all the no-respect stuff and us against the world stuff , i dont deny . But they dont say like shaun phillps "next time its going be personal" blah blah. The post spygate game was an extra incentive to play better sure but any team wouldve gotten killed that day .No one said before the game "its going be to be personal, or if you aint cheating you aint trying" and all the garbage. Pats fuel themselves with these comments and respond AFTER the game, win or lose. They dont badmouth before and after the game all the time "they showed no class, iam a classy guy so i deserve to win this game ." bullcrap.

You're splitting hairs now. So, one type of motiviation is ok, but not another. And Phillips is the only one that said it was personal. And to clarify, he's being specific to one Pats player and one only. So what if they take something personal? Why is that bad or even an issue? I hope they take it that way. By the way, I want to see if it's possible to have a discussion on this forum without someone mentioning the word "class." I dont think you guys can do it.

So you're saying we're not classy.....

nope we cant..."didnt your own player say , they showed no class and iam a classy guy" . We didnt invent and drive the word. Your team leader is the 'classy' guy

I didnt think you had it in you. Maybe it's because the pundits still talk about Spygate and you guys loathe to hear that word. So, perhaps you're just projecting your animosity. But I will do everything in my power not to say the "S" word....I promise.

And that makes you one classy dude.

look, i dont care if spygate is mentioned. we cant stop it .it happened and people are going to talk about it. if you loathe the mention of the 'C' word because you think it was unfortunate he said it then, i take it back. i was under the impression you were defending LT for saying such.
All said and done, good game and no injuries. i will be surprised if the pats win but i hope they surprise me.

Amen. I think this will be a very interesting game to say the least. I have no idea what to expect from either club.

And for the record, I do defend what LT said about the Pats after that game. Your players were being a-holes. But I wont defend what he said about himself being classy or whatever (I cant remember exactly what he said) and I surely cant defend his comment about winning 9 out of 10 times. That was just dumb.

so your player can sack and hit a QB and do a stupid dance and someone mocks it after winning is being an a-hole and he drags the head coach in it too ?

Richard Seymour is the biggest (expletive) I've ever come across in football,” Hardwick said after the conference title game in January, won by the Patriots 21-12. “They've got 10 good football players on that team. Richard Seymour is a dirty, cheap little pompous (expletive)"

"Also in the ugly aftermath of that playoff loss at Qualcomm Stadium, Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips used the word “classless” in reference to the Pats.

“Shaun Phillips,” he said, “will have a grudge against them the rest of his career.”

...

I bet there are Powder Puff Leagues that don't cry as much as the Sparklers do. Seriously that's just absolutely pathetic. If I were a Charger fan,the LAST thing I'd do is try to defend that, especially considering they suk and despite all the hype, haven't been able to accomplish squat.

Their whining is an embarrassment to football. I hope Big sey kicks his *.

Yes.

ten characters.

The 2006 playoff win was an emotional win as a visitor. Did Hobbs mean disrespect from where he was standing at the end of the game? Who knows. Did LT and Rivers let their emotions get out of hand after the loss? Arguable. The fact is nobody saw the Patriots moving on after that game and they did. The last time the teams had played was 2005 and the Chargers thrashed the Patriots, so I suspect some of the emotion was the playoff win along with some gratifying payback for the previous loss.

The jawing in the media and calling other players out makes for good theater, but it always sounds like sour grapes after a loss. I would credit that conduct to immaturity and lack of leadership telling those players to shut their pie holes.

San Diego has issues it is trying to fix, so do the Patriots. It should be a good game. Not the clash of the unstoppable force and immovable object that it was billed to be last season, but a good game.
