a lot of chatter about Maroney vs Morris, Jordan
why are they getting more production, while LoMo is a first round draft choice

to my eyes, the answer is obvious every week

1. Maroney is SUPER fast, and works well in space. Truly exciting.
2. Maroney gets jack****e in yards after contact (unless its a huge pile up and the whole line pushes him). He goes down easy. Just watch.
3. When the Pats get in a tight battle, the other RBs can blast thru first (or second) contact. They get more yards

Is LoMO underperforming as a Rd1 pick?

Re: LoMo mystery solved !!

I think the number of RB's on the team for 2008 speaks volumes about how Belichick feels about Maroney.

How many are there this year compared to the past, say, 3 seasons?

This team had Evans, Faulk, Morris and Maroney and still signed Jordan.

Deepest Belichick RB unit ever. Belichick knew Maroney would let him down.

Re: LoMo mystery solved !!

I think they could utilize him better.

Omg, I just questioned Belichick. I'm not worthy!

I remember seasons with, for example:

Dillon
Faulk
Evans
Cloud
Pass
w/ Zereoue brought in

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we really looking at essentially the same amount of rbs on the roster?

Re: LoMo mystery solved !!

As for last year's RB number, Eckel, Morris, Maroney, Evans, and Faulk - 5. This year, Jordan in for Eckel, Morris, Maroney, Evans and Faulk -5. My math may be off, but that looks like the same number of backs we had last year.

In Dillon's stellar year in 2004, the Pats had Dillon, Pass, Faulk, and Abdullah/Cobbs -4. You may also recall Klecko showed up in 2003 and did a good amount of works as a fullback (that would be 5).

The drastic increase in RBs over the years must be Maroney's doing. Or Belichick has added valued vets he sees as an overall upgrade to the RB roster in the way of capabilities that potentially might explain the loss of a TE on the roster (an RB that can play TE, sounds like diversity and consistent with Belichick's mantra).

A...a bit distorting the facts there....please...
You are talking about 05... That was the season they starte with only THREE running backs. Dillon, Faulk and Pass. Faulk had a foot injury in game 3 amd it was right after that Zereoue was signed. Dillon and Pass both had injuries...and Z was cut after Game 7...It was then that Evans and Cloud were brought in. So...it is NOT AT ALL the SAME....There were many more injuries and the timing was not as you have said.

It's not distorting the facts at all. It's a simple question: How many rbs has the team carried in each of the past 3 years? Hell, let's go through 2005 - 2008. How many was the team carrying each year? In fact, give us a rb roster breakdown for each season in BB's Patriots tenure.

You made it sound like they had 5 and signed a 6th at the same time..THAT did not happen. I was clarifying what actually happened...

You're like the Dale Arnold of this board. The guy just layed his argument out for you on a platter, and proved you wrong.

You are such a homer you cannot handle the facts. Maroney is made out glass, and he will never be anything special. He is a average back at best, and was not worth his high draft pick. I was attacked for saying it long ago, and look who's right again.

You (and others) attacked me for calling Jackson a bust, Maroney injury prone and Seymour over the hill. You where wrong on all counts! How did Seymour look last week? Ha-ha, exactly.

What are you talking about? I Listed 5 and noted that Famous Amos was brought in. That's what happened. Had I been making it sound the way you're claiming, I wouldn't have distinguished Amos from the rest of the crowd.

does it?

i am just beyond sick of the maroney bashing on this site

If there is a point in there somewhere I missed it.

Clearly Maroney is not meant to be a smashmouth rb yet BB still seems intent on making him one.
Far be it for me to question BB but I just wish he would use Lomo as a receiver type like Westbrook.
He showed something last year when he was allowed to.

Missing the point is the story of your life, no doubt.

Well now you have gone and done it.

No way I will be able to sleep tonight.

I know you know that doesn't make sense, so I'm surprised you brought it up.

The absolutely only reason cloud and zeroue were on the team is because of injuries, You could have replaced those names with any on the waiver list that year.
