Before you laugh consider this, the Pats have scored 79 points a with no defensive points..yet...
The Colts have scored a total of 83 points but 7 came off Brackett's 70+ yard return of a Rosenfels fumble. The Colts offense under Manning has put up 76 points........
If somebody had told you that four games after Brady got hurt that the Pats offense would score more points than the Colts offense, what would you have said??? They are two Peyton Manning comebacks ( coupled with WTF coaching by Minn and Rosenfels coming apart) away from being 0-4........

To be fair, and I hate defending a Manning, but it's been clear since the first game of the season that Peyton is not healthy. That knee is affecting him, and coupled with the poor health they've had along their offensive line, it's slowed their offense down a lot. Without a massive dose of stupidity, they're 1-3 after yesterday's game for sure, and that's the kind of team they're going to be this year. 8-8, 9-7, probably on the outside looking in when the playoffs start.

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

Yeah, I'll still take Peyton. Thanks anyway.

And, let's not forget that when each was backed up inside his own 1, Peyton gave up a safety, while Cassel led his team 99 yards for a TD. :D

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

Cassel also has a better passer rating 84.1 vs 79.2 and has thrown less int 3 vs. 5.

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

Peyton Manning>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Matt Cassel

Lets not even go there, its not even close - Indy's OL sucks and Manning pulled out that victory yesterday where no one but Brady would likely have (of course the Colts defense was masterful in the last 4 minutes to help the cause).

Cassel is doing fine in given the role he has to play and lets keep it at that,Lets not get into Cassel is better than Peyton debates because that would be beyond ridiculous

Manning didn't pull out the victory, and Peyton, mighty Peyton, would be 0-4 if his opponents hadn't imploded.

Whoa whoa whoa. Manning pulled out nothing. Stukpid playcalling and bad houston QBing lost the game. All Houston had to do was run three times, have the colts use their timeouts, then punt and recover ONE on-sides kick if the COlts scored.

The ONLY way that Houston could lose was with turnovers. Which they did. Three of them, which had nothing to do with Manning.

And BTW, their Oline has played no worse than ours.

The role he has to play is the same as Manning. QB. Try to handle that.

No one said he is better than Manning. But Cassel has led his team to more points than Manning, and there is no denying that fact no matter how much you want to diss Cassel and the Pats.

Can you handle the truth? THe truth is that Cassel has played better than Manning so far this season. More points, better rating.

No I would not take Cassel over Manning, but that doesn't change anything. Just as the Giants outplayed a better Patriots team, Cassel has outplayed a better QB.

Live with it, Haters.

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

Much as I think the guy is a tool. He gets a pass from me. He's clearly hurt and it's just about certain that Cassel has the better team around him right now then Peyton does.

I'm as pleasantly suprised by Cassel as the next guy, but lets not get goofy.

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

The Colts are having a horrible year. I wasn't high on them to begin with, but injuries and lack of a defense has really hurt their offensive production to levels worse than even I expected.

Let's not go overboard though. The Colts at full strength is better than the Cassel run Pats offense.

Exactly. Rosenfels fumbled twice and thew an interception. Manning had nothing to do with that. He did throw a very nice ball to Wayne for the final touchdown however.
To be fair to manning, his o-line is absolutely terrible this year. They miss Saturday really bad. Cassell has better numbers because he plays with better players. NE's O-line is better than the colts, and the NE receiver's are collectively better than the colts as well.

Actually Saturday played Sunday ("who's on first?"). I remember seeing him on the bench sitting next to Manning and he's listed as starting in the gameday link below...

Re: Matt Cassel has put up more points than Peyton....

I'll empahsize this for the haters in this thread

for THREE GAMES IN A ROW, THREE GAMES IN A ROW, PEYTON MANNING HAS LED A TOUCHDOWN DRIVE THAT WON OR SHOULD HAVE WON THE GAME IN THE 4TH QUARTER (Our defense + the refs allowed Garrad to get his team in field goal range) DOWN 15-0 AND 27-10(!!!!)

Not playing in the preseason, with a O Line that has been DECIMATED BY INJURIES. With almost no running game. Yes three games in a row, when the pressure was on the line, Peyton drove the team for a TOUCHDOWN, NOT A FIELDGOAL, 6 POINTS

Peyton Manning is the ONLY QUARTERBACK IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. To lead a 4th quarter comeback when down 17 or more points with 5 minutes or less in the 4th quarter

HE IS THE ONLY QUARTERBACK TO EVER DO THAT IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE, AND HE HAS DONE IT TWICE, IN 2003 AND YESTERDAY, HE IS SIMPLY ONE OF THE MOST CLUTCH QB'S OF ALL TIME

And with yesterday's win he passed Joe Montana for all time 4th quarter comebacks, with 32

Keep on yapping haters

Matt Cassel is not even on the same planet as Manning, not even the same solar system, throw Manning on the Patriots right not You're seeing more of what you saw last year, Cassel on the colts this year? Be real with these shock threads

I am having fun with you.

Can you dispute any of the facts in my last post? would you like to go on the record and say Cassell will finish with a better overall year than Peyton?

Would you like to go on record and admit that placed in nearly identical situations--backed up inside their own 1--Cassel led the Pats to a TD, while Peyton coughed up a safety? :)

You mean the game where the refs made the correct call? You mean the refs had the nerve to call the correct call knowing full well it could have cost the Colts the game? How dare they? Even the league after the fact said it was the correct call and they aren't afraid of admitting their mistakes after the fact. Heck, they apologized to Ellis Hobbs for calling faceguarding on a play (even though the rule doesn't even exist anymore) vs. the Colts in the AFC Championship game two years ago that if wasn't called might have sent the Pats to the Super Bowl instead of the Colts. Stop crying about non-existent bad calls.

Sorry, Peyton didn't do all that much to win that game yesterday. It was Sage Rosenfels and the Colts defense that was the difference.

I think Manning is a incredible QB, but I don't find a game winning drive that starts on the opposing team's 20 yard line a clutch drive. It was a 20 yard drive to win the game.

If anything, Manning blew it by scoring in two plays and leaving the Texans with 1:47 left on the clock with two time outs left. If the Colts defense didn't cause the turnover, the Texans had plenty of time to drive down and score the game winning TD.

Oh and FYI Peyton Manning through the first 4 starts of his career 0-4....hmmmm.

I am by no means claiming that Cassel is a better QB than Manning just that statistically he is. Statistically an arguement can be made that Jeff George is a better QB than Joe Montana.

If you cherry pick your stats you can make an argument for almost any given player.

Football statistics need to placed in context not just regurgitated like baseball stats. (even baseball stats need context).

Cassel is doing a good job of managing games. Maybe he will be a good starter in the league or maybe he will be Trent Dilfer. Who knows it is too soon to tell.

Cassel will finish with a better QB rating, completion %, INT total and record this year.
