In reading Mike Nolan's commnets after the game, I came across this tidbit. "To win is all about having more points than the other team." You can understand the point that Nolan is making when you read his entire statement and of course it's taken out of context. It got me to thinking what if BB made this statement? How quickly do you think the ESPN idiots would take this out of context and jump all over this? Or even guys like Felger and Borges?

While Bill and his so called "disrepect for the press" puts him continually under the microscope, many other coaches seem to get a bye or what they say is dismissed as the emotional part of the game..

Ummm. I have not read his entire statement or any part of it except what you quoted and I assume Nolan is saying the obvious. You have to score at least one more point than your opponent in order to win? Is there another message in his statement I am not paranoid enough to see?

He's addressing the belief that QB sacks win games. He's simply arguing that its not the number of sacks exclusively, it's also being able get your defense off the field and to keep your offense on the field to give the team the opportunity to score points, etc. My point is even though this quote is a small part of his statement, what would the media reaction be if BB had answered in a similar fashion. I think the mediots would take the statement and have a field day with it.

I disagree. The media gets on BB for being a cantankerous cheater. I don't think they ever use his words against him like that or ever try to make him out to be a simpleton, because they all probably know that BB is nothing if not intelligent.

Or maybe I misunderstand your point.

I believe he has made the same comment in his pressers about scoring more points than the other team.

The media gets on him for many things, including, of course, the way he answers questions at press conferences.

I'm having trouble starting a thread so I'll put this here: The Bill Belichick Quote of the Week.

Here's this week's entry:

Question: After the 49ers scored what adjustments did you make?

Answer:

The one big play on the corner route, we didn’t cover him so that was an adjustment to try to have everybody cover their man

Let me predict ESPN right now....

"OH MY GHAWD BILL BELICHICK IS TALKING ABOUT RUNNING UP THE SCORE! HE IS SATAN INCARNATE!"

... yet when Lord Favrequad does the same thing ESPN cheers. Hypocrites.
