He did OK today. Why does my thread stating such get erased?

he did pretty good...

i only watched the 2nd half, but from what i gathered the D put quite a bit of pressure on him...

then again i didnt see his 2 ints and how bad they were either

Well, usually a new thread requires much more analysis. Like, what in particular do you believe he did well?

That being said, with all the negative threads on Cassel on this board, I find this one refreshing.

He played really well today.

Neither INT was a particularly bad one. He got hit on one, and on the other he tried a homerun to Randy.

I don't think they were that bad at all. He was hit as he was throwing on one, and on the other he threw a 50 yard pass that was intercepted at the 3 and downed there. Granted we lost possession and we could have driven for at least a field goal there, but effectively that was a good punt.

My only real problem with Cassel was his missing a wide open Randy Moss in the red zone when he had time. He actually threw the ball away because he thought he had no one open. Randy was wide open.

Well I did have a little more comments and others added some as well. I figured this one would be erased so I didn't bother adding any.

Me too, he is getting more confident, getting a bit of chemistry with the Slot Machine, involved Moss today (well the game plan did), has good chemistry with Gaff already, made good decisions...I think he is really getting there.

Great job Matt, you are showing imrpovement for sure...game by game my man....:D

I think he did better than okay. I would go as far as to say that he played well. If the O-line could actually keep pressure off of him, the offense would be putting up some very respectable numbers. Matty seems to be learning the fine art of picking up on open receivers. He really did manage to pick apart that 49'ers defense tonight. There really wasn't always an obvious receiver open, but Cassel managed to make something happen. Very solid performance.

First pick was Cassel throwing medium deep got blindsided and the wounded duck pass got picked. Good call by Josh, bad execution by the OL.

2nd pick he had no pressure but greatly underthrew Moss, who tackled the interceptor on the enemy 4 yd line. Far better than a hanson punt but a bad play by Cassel.

Cassie also failed to hit 2 open receivers in a Red Zone play so we just got a FG.

Later, he missed out on a TD because braniac Watson ran across the back of the goal line out of bounds. Perfect throw. Shoulda been a TD pass. Faulk ran it in later.

Cassel is sometimes taking too long on the 3 step drops to get the ball off. On other plays when sacked I much prefer to see him eat the ball and avoid Sage Rosenfels TOs.

I will take a try at a homerun turning into an INT over 3 missed short routes any day.

He played really well, today. I think he will compete for a starting job somewhere next year.

To me he started off slow then in the second period started to get in a rythem,he seemed more comfortable

Yep, unfortunately, had you said "Cassel sucked today" , you'd have 800 responses.

BB is not stupid. If O'connell wasn't in after the bye week, its because Cassel gives us the best chance to win. He's our QB, and he managed the game today. Listening to the broadcast, it sounded like he played a complete game, spread the ball, found Moss deep, read the blitz.... he MANAGED THE GAME. He hasn't yet learned to avoid the rush, and he's not making all his reads, but TB didn't master these techniques after his third game either.

I actually think FAULK was the man today, he was darting all over the place, emabrrassing them and making them look outright slow and stupid.
He bailed out Cassel and McDaniels numerous times, when he should have been caught behind the line or early in his run.

Casssel did enough to win the game, he played pretty decent except that idiocy throw where he had 20 minutes to make a decision, and he still threw it in the stands when he still had time to make a play.

Yeah, that was bad. But, you know, for his third start...

And yes, Kevin Faulk is awesome.

It could just be a server problem; a bunch of threads were deleted for no good reason whatsoever a couple of days ago.

I agree, Cassel did "pretty" well today. But I don't like the guy as our QB...not at all. He reminds me of a poorer quality Drew Bledsoe....all goofy and slow with a much weaker arm

Cassel deserves some credit..did a good job..nothing great, but made some great throws and great times....big test coming up in San Diego

Cassel did do a pretty good job today, showed he has a bigger arm than most thought (at least I thought), he just needs to work on reads and timing a little more.

Also, I really do not believe that the Chargers will be that much of a test. Their defense is playing nowhere near what last seasons did and the offense isn't faring much better either. LT was pretty much shut down today by the 'Fins.

My only concern for the Pats is the stay out west.

P.S. Let's not forget the Pats defense, sooooooo much better than 2 weeks ago.

Cassell played well, starting to progress through his reads, although, they could be quicker, but that will come with experience. He's not zeroing in on a single receiver, many times he froze the safety by looking to the left, only to quickly throw to the right. He showed he has an arm on the long home run to Moss. His picks, IMHO, were OK. The first, he was hit as it released and the second was an attempt at another home run into double coverage. I thought he looked better than the Jets game.

Well,

This game against San Francisco was a great game in that it reminded me of many games of the pre-Brady era. We fell behind, rallied and kept slugging away until the whistle blew and we won.

Sure, we lost some games back then as well. Heck, for those who weren't around before, the standard game outline used to be "Score early, fall behind, rally late, and fall short". Then we got Drew and things seemed to work out where we won more than we lost, on average. Many were nail-biters, and that was okay.

With Brady, it was lead at half-time and never look back.

Still, there is something to be said about Cassel and these talented Patriots fighting and clawing for points, and stubbornly holding on to win a game. It reminds me of the old days, and to be honest, it is much more thrilling to have the outcome in doubt, sitting on the edge of your seat and hoping for that one great play to clinch the game, than in watching a scoreboard that looks like it belongs at a Celtics game.

Mind you, I'm NOT arguing against Tommy Brady being the QB. I hope he heals fast and comes back to QB the team for several more years. However, I have no problems with Matt Cassel at QB in his absence. I think that we are pretty well served, and depending upon how things go next weekend, we should get into the playoffs and do quite well.

Anyway, that's my thoughts on the whole season so far. I would prefer Brady, but I can't complain about Cassel and how he's doing so far. I've been a fan since they drafted Jim Plunkett, and I know from bad seasons. So far, this aint one of them.

Other tams should be so lucky. Heck, we might have had Sage Rosenfels under center

Respects,

Good question. I posted a thread yesterday CONGRATULATING your team on a good win against a tough opponent, and they freakin moved it to the Visting Locker Room! I also typed "Here we go Steelers!" at the end, but c'mon. Apparently, you're not even allowed to be NICE in here if you're not a Pats fan. Pretty pathetic on the Mod's part if you ask me.
