Noticed he was in there and seemed to be playing well, is he part of the LB rotation or did someone get hurt??

He got snaps in a few packages that didn't seem to be injury related. He's my guy from this crop of rookies, so I'm happy to see him playing well. He had a great tackle down near the goalline.

Amazing. He had more solo tackles (3) than either Mayo or Bruschi. The pregame Vegas odds on that would have been over 1000 - 1.
Bill must love this kid to be giving him minutes this early in the season of a rookie undrafted FA.

I kept seeing the number 59 on the field on defense - do I need new glasses or did Guyton change numbers?

Yeah, they did change his number (it was 48); I think someone told them that they had to move Guyton into the 50s/90s.

But as I posted in the Guyton thread a few days ago--what sort of Hoodi mind trick left Guyton undrafted? :D

He looks like Colvin, doesn't he?

Thats ctpatsfan, NFL.com still has him as #48 so I didn't know what was going on - the cameras always seemed to cut away just as his name was a bout to be shown haha.

Hey, Mayo finally missed some snaps! :)

He's not in that particular sub package, per Reiss.

Mysterious for sure. A guy with a productive major-conference college career and combine numbers like these doesn't usually slip through the cracks:

6-2 245 4.47 2.53 1.46 15 36 1/2 10'06" 4.42 7.07

The 1.46 split is phenomenal for a man that size.

Sure surprised me for my uncle to tell me that #59 was out there today. Kudos to Guyton.

Alexander is injured.

Alexander is injured.
And appeared to be #4 ILB on the depth chart to start the season. You need to rent the movie Kelly's Heroes and get your positive attitude tune-up. :p

Gary Guyton is so tight because he ran a 4.47 and he was undrafted! I hope he leads the team in tackles.

Yet he was playing over Alexander even when Alexander was healthy. Alexander seemed to be in more on sub units after Tank went down, and Guyton was more of a sub into the base defense.

I am amazed at Guyton's solid progress this season. This undrafted kid worked his way onto the gameday squad ahead of The Crab, probably because of solid ST play and good performances at ILB during the week. Congrats!

"Tight!" Now you've put your voodoo hex on Guyton! :enranged:

I had such hopes for the kid. :(

I'm really interested to see Guyton's contributions as well. I was only able to listen today and wondering if he is starting to assume some of the hybrid LB/S responsibilities that would have went to Tank Williams ( ? )
