No, not Matt Cassel. Chris Hanson. The guy friggin' sucks. He's going to cost the Patriots field position in some key spots at this rate. At this point, I'm willing to take the Gostkowski approach and draft one in the middle rounds next year to get a half competent guy. At least the defense seemed to realize it was the regular season as the game wore on and started getting pressure and tackling more reliably, so Hanson's awful punting couldn't cost the team a win.

I'd take any Punter not named Ken Walter right now over Hansen.

He's good for when you need that booming kick but he can't seem to pin them down inside the 10.

He's sucked for well over a season now. For someone who manages field position as meticulously as Belichick does, I have to admit that I'm surprised that an upgrade hasn't been made by now. Oh well, the Patrtiots coaching staff obviously knows something that I don't.

Gotta say, as mcuh as I hate the kneejerk nonsense that now rules this site, THIS is not kneejerk. The guy is awful. I'll be STUNNED if he's not cut this week. He's been on a short leash, lots of guys being brought in, for literally months now. It's time to cut bait, and I expect BB to do so ASAP.

What's Josh Miller up to these days?

After his last punt today, I said the same thing.

Hell after Ghost's awesome performance today, I say we let him punt. Cut Hanson.

I think he's done.

For the life of me I can't understand why the coffin corner has become a lost art in this game where 10 yards can mean all the difference in the world. This whole "try to get it to bounce backwards at the 3" crap is mind boggling, and relying on the gunners to stop it is silly, kick the damn ball out of bounds somewhere between the 5 and the 15, it can't possibly be that hard for a professional who gets paid TO DO NOTHING BUT KICK THE BALL.

As much as I love coffin corner punters... my favorite punter of all time has to be Sav Rocca. Hes playing for the Eagles right now, and he does indeed do the bounce back at the 3 shenanigans... But boy does he do it well. (Almost) Everytime I see him punt its either a ~60 yard boot or a perfect bounceback inside the 10.
Unfortunately Hanson doesnt do any of that.

What kills me is that we know Hanson can't figure out the "bounce it back" thing, and can't even manage to get the "kick it softer" thing down, so why not just work on the "aim" thing and turn him 10-30 degrees to his right or left as he kicks.

The Pats haven't had a good punter since Tom Tupa. Why the hell did they ever let him go?

I thought Sauerbrun and Miller were pretty good P's for us. At the very least they were alot better than this guy.

Can someone explain to me why it's so hard to find a good punter? I mean, how difficult is the task of punting? Considering the $$ to be had by being on an NFL team, and the league only has to find 32 of these guys in the world, I'm amazed every team doesn't have someone who can boom kicks.

If I had a son, he'd be punting from the crib.
