He takes a long time getting rid of the ball. In addition, he lacks has Bldesoe like happy feet in the pocket.
I am positive the Lions would take a 4th or a 5th for Kitna. They are going nowhere and they probably want to their 2nd round QB from a couple of years ago some playing time.
our O Line is more of the problem than Cassel. anyone watching the game would agree, i think
Why would a 4th or a 5th for Kitna be such a bad trade? The Lions are going nowhere.
He's often holding onto the ball too long yes - but the OL is NOT doing their job.
If the OL is going to be that porous, might as well have a QB who is better able to scramble out of the pocket and make something from nothing.
We don't need to trade for that player - we have him on the team in O'Connell, and O'Connell knows more of the offense than anyone.
This is not meant as a knock on Cassell - it's simply a realistic response to the fact that the best QB match to a shaky OL is O'Connell. If this is what most of our games are going to look like, I say put O'Connell in sooner rather than later.

1) You're assuming the Lions would take a 4th or 5th round for their starting QB. Again, this is not Madden. Yes, he was benched today, but he is still the only veteran QB on their roster. No matter how bad this season seems to be for them, they won't let Kitna go so easily.
2) It's not as simple as putting a new QB on the field. There is a complex system to learn and is not easy to do it, even arriving in offseason. Favre took almost two months to have chemistry with his new receivers (and we are talking about one of the all time greatest).
3) Salary cap.
