Is it just me or did it an eternity for him to get that ball out?

Time to trade for Garcia, Kitna, etc

Stop it, you're so trolling man! Cassel is AWESOME!

IT'S THE O-LINE!

In one play, we went from having the best QB in the NFL to having the worst in the NFL.

If we can get to the 20th best, we can do damage with the talent we have on offense.

Completely agree.

Another 3 and out coming up...

I know people want to give Cassell a chance. But if we getting throttled by the 49ers at halftime. Then we should go with either O'conell or Guttierez. Give it a shot.

Plus, Their might be more 3 and outs on defense. If their were less 3 and outs on offense.

EDIT: Nice Pass Cassell.

Um, what was that?

He was so lucky on that TD play. It

He takes a long time getting rid of the ball. In addition, he lacks has Bldesoe like happy feet in the pocket.

I am positive the Lions would take a 4th or a 5th for Kitna. They are going nowhere and they probably want to their 2nd round QB from a couple of years ago some playing time.

our O Line is more of the problem than Cassel. anyone watching the game would agree, i think

Three step drop, get rid of right away.

Cassel takes three steps, gets happy feet, and gets sacked.

The commentator just reiterated this point.

I have met Matt Cassel and he is a nice guy. However, he is not starting QB material in the NFL.

A 4th or 5th for Kitna? Now that you've revealed your total ignorance, why not go away?

Except those who think football is as simple as Madden... like hallfamebrady, for example...

Why would a 4th or a 5th for Kitna be such a bad trade? The Lions are going nowhere.

What a horrible pass.

First time he hit a wide open Randy Moss, as any competent QB should do.

Still has NOT impressed me. Already 2 INTS today. Ugh.

1) You're assuming the Lions would take a 4th or 5th round for their starting QB. Again, this is not Madden. Yes, he was benched today, but he is still the only veteran QB on their roster. No matter how bad this season seems to be for them, they won't let Kitna go so easily.

2) It's not as simple as putting a new QB on the field. There is a complex system to learn and is not easy to do it, even arriving in offseason. Favre took almost two months to have chemistry with his new receivers (and we are talking about one of the all time greatest).

3) Salary cap.

I failed to think of the salary cap.

However, Cassel has to go. I know replacing Brady is impossible but Cassel is far from the answer.

He's often holding onto the ball too long yes - but the OL is NOT doing their job.

If the OL is going to be that porous, might as well have a QB who is better able to scramble out of the pocket and make something from nothing.

We don't need to trade for that player - we have him on the team in O'Connell, and O'Connell knows more of the offense than anyone.

This is not meant as a knock on Cassell - it's simply a realistic response to the fact that the best QB match to a shaky OL is O'Connell. If this is what most of our games are going to look like, I say put O'Connell in sooner rather than later.

He has been sacked five time already today. He looks like a poor's man Drew Bledsoe with happier feet

Since you answered, I'll give the other half. Look at any list of the top QBs. Then eliminate young QBs that are only there based on potential.

You're left with 10, if that. Kitna is a proven veteran who is steady and doesn't make stupid mistakes.

Since any otherwise strong team that doesn't have a proven veteran might have a wasted season that could be saved by acquiring a veteran that can manage a game, why in Gawd's name would even Detroit just give one away?

His was pretty slow with his realease but we still won.
