More BB bashing

He's basically arguing that Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time by about 600 miles, but like all Pats haters, he wants to have it both ways by not acknowledging that that is what his logic concludes.

Checking in with sport's reigning sourpuss - Frank Deford - SI.com

frank deford used to be decent but i guess its an easy article to write about any week this season.

Why bother to back it up with fact when his opinion is all that counts....I didn't know he was still writing, what does thta tell you???

>>>>>Both Red Auerbach, who won year after year with Bill Russell, and Phil
Jackson, who first racked up championships with Michael Jordan, were often characterized as coattails….<<<<<<

He neglects to mention that Auerbach rebuilt the Celtics three times, Russell, Cowens era and Bird era…… and I NEVER heard that coattails accusation.

I thought Frank DeFord had passed several years ago. Seriously.

Wow, I have'nt read anything THAT crappy in a while.

Gotta love how 2002, a year when he led the league in TD's and threw for almost 4000 yards and generally had a much better statistical performance that even in missing the playoffs on a tiebreaker underscored he was no flash in the pan, it was a sore armed Brady hinting to DeFord that BB was only as good as his QB...

By his measure there are no great HC's... Lombardi had the talent market cornered in his day and left GB initially when he saw that advantage slipping away...

Call me when he finds someone to compare Bill to short of Red - guys who built it as well as coached it. Joe Torre...LOL

Because we know the Patriots with Brady never lost to a horrible Miami Dolphins team.

(Excepting December 2006, of course)

Aside from the poor writing, flawed logic and old, worn out criticisms that have nothing to do with football - gee, Deford is the first writer to ever comment on BB's attire and frown - the columnist loses all credibility when he infers that Joe Torre is a better coach than Red Auerbach was. Deford is just going to the well of fans-love-to-hate-winners yet one more time for a cheap and easy story with no substance that panders to a national audience that will somehow feel better about their own favorite team by belittling the accomplishments of Belichick, and by extension, the Pats.

So basically Deford is saying that BB might just be a so-so coach riding the coatails of a good team/historic QB? Funny, there are those that say that Bill Parcells rode BB's coatails to win his SBs with the Giants. I'm of the opinion that BB isn't riding anyone's coatails, he's the real deal. One thing from the article I DO agree with, BB is the league's biggest sourpuss. LOL.

Norv is known as one of the nicest guys in the league. Come on now, even you have to admit that BB is a bit on the "sourpuss" side of normal.

To whom? Wait, first define "normal."

Anything that helps the story is included. It's nice to know that Joe Torre's Dodgers went to the playoffs while his old Yankees didn't. Never mind that in any other division, the Dodgers would have been also rans. But, I guess that doesn't advance the story.

He's a "sourpuss" to the media because he believes, correctly, that no matter how he treats them, they'll screw him the first chance they get if it advances their cause. I call that a pragmatist. I have never met BB, but I have a relative who is fortunate enough to be on the field for all home games and does know him and claims he is one of the nicest, most gracious people he has ever met. We all believe whomever and whatever we want.

I have seen with my own eyes the guy that your relative characterises as "one of the nicest, most gracious people he has ever met". Still think he is one of the greatest coaches ever, but dude is a sourpuss by just about any definition you can find, and not to just with the media.

We all believe whomever and whatever we want.
True that! Of course who or what I, or you, believe can be true, right? I mean, face it, dude has a reputation that isn't entirely unearned.

You don't need me to answer that, you know.
Wait, first define "normal."
How about this, you define normal objectively. Then tell me you don't think BB is on the sourpuss side of that definition. If you are objective you will agree, if not, you still should agree. LOL.
