Getting tired of the (appropriate) overflow of Cassel topics on this board? Let's keep all Matt Cassel criticism in this one thread. That will whipe out 98% of Cassel topics since there hasn't been any threads praising him save for the "Well, he hasn't made mistakes" topics.

In my opinion, this will be the week where Cassel completely implodes and a serious QB controversy begins. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm going with my gut here. If I'm wrong I'll own up and admit to being wrong. If I'm right, well the homers will just continue to support Cassel until we're mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Fight the power guys.

Cassel can not lead this team to the Super Bowl and this team has Super Bowl expectations. If this year does not end in a Super Bowl championship, it is a failure in my mind. Unless you're willingly able to say "Tom Brady's injury killed our season" which would really be a hit on Belichick. This team does is not in the position to have a development QB, because (obviously) he's not the QB of the future and we're looking for results now.

You should make a poll about yourself, Wendel. I can see it now:

Q - What am I?

1. Dumbass
2. ******
3. Gay
4. All of the above
5. Other (be specific)

On the way out, be kind of enough to simply choose if you approve or disapprove of our current starting QB.

are you certifiably insane????????

I approve of Matt Cassel.

Why would Gay be an insult? You're a homer and a homophobic bigot? That's just great.

Stop trolling my thread please.

You've already trolled your own thread much more than I ever have. Fantastic comeback, by the way. I'd love to see what the O'Connell led Patriots can do. Yeah. He'd be so much better than Cassel.

Play nice...

how about this Wendel...........

Kevin O'Connell is the best young QB ive seen come into the league since John Elway and Dan Marino burst on the seen in 1983!!!!!!

What poise! What an arm! Clearly, he will lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl Championship and allow us to trade Tom Brady!

Is that ******ed enough to join your club?

Oh sweet Jesus take me home.

Apparently so did the Bill Bilichick and the rest of the New England Patriots coaching staff thus the reason they drafted him in the 3rd round. Drafting a QB in the 3rd round showed their obvious concern regarding the current backup.

Also pats1, just to avoid having to take this matter to the PMs, is there anything I'm doing wrong? If so I'll stop, but I'd appreciate if Kondtradiction didn't have the freedom to refer to me or any other poster as "Gay and ******ed". Such immature bigotry should be prohibited on a board that represents our fanbase

Simply saying "O'Connel gives us a better chance to score" allows you to join the club.

Again, cut with the word ******ed. It's offensive to people who have mentally disabled members in their family.

Personally, I think it is extremely unfair to Mr. Simpson that you continue to use his name with derogatory connotations.

On the other hand, this board definitely needs more "I predict player X to fail, and if he doesn't then I'm glad I was wrong, if he does I'm even happier as I can gloat... all the while pretending that I trully want the Patriots to succeed" posts. We absolutely do not get enough of them.

I'm guessing your Patriot Football fandom started about...oh.....I don't know.....say 2001?

Or perhaps you think you are smarter than Bill Belichick.

Or perhaps you know what's better for the team than Scott P., Bill B. or Robert Kraft.

Or perhaps you are in fact Kevin O'Connel (if you are I would like an autographed football, Please. Thanks!)

Or perhaps you just need to find a place where trashing the Patriots is cool. I would suggest any one of 31 other message boards.

Thanks and good bye.

Stop trolling my thread please.

This is NOT your thread. Everything posted on this board belongs to Ian and he in turn presents it to all members for discussion. Every thread is accessible to everybody. If you're displeased about a response, discuss it with a moderator or with the responder, but don't think you have any right to chase members out of a thread.

Who knows why he drafted him? As Brady's replacement? As a back-up with legs? I don't know and neither do you. But what you just said defies your own logic. Putting Cassel in as the starter showed their obvious trust regarding the current back-up. Nobody here is saying that Cassel is the best thing since sliced bread. That may be what you're not understanding. But he is the best available option at this point.

Such immature bigotry should be prohibited on a board that represents our fanbase

Did I touch a nerve or something? I'd rather kneejerk bandwagon-ish reactions be prohibited on a board that represents our fanbase. Statements like these make us all look like frontrunners.

Easy there big fella, you gotta realize that when you spout off like this:

"In my opinion, this will be the week where Cassel completely implodes"

You have to be prepared to suffer the backlash. Argue your point and make your case, but don't be all surprised when people start slamming YOU for slamming their QB. We're family around here and we don't like when someone bashes our favorite (non IR) son.

Uhh, Actually no. Cassel is in the last year of his contract. Brady is nowhere near done. Cassel isn't staying here as backup, and O'Connell was drafted for future potential. Keyword being FUTURE. So you are 100% wrong on why you think the Pats drafted O'Connell.

I apologize. I should have said idiotic or moronic. Please forgive my insensitivity.

Hell yeah, bro. Truer words haven't been spoken in a long time.
