Guy is still at the top.

I kind of get embarrassed when I see posters on this board calling Favre "washed up, should of stayed retired, etc." Guy is a phenomenal player still, despite the fact he plays for the Rats.

Everytime the guy throws an incomplete pass this board blowing up with "Aha, good ol' Favre, probably regretting being back now!" just...stop. As far as his INTs go he has the same amount (4) as Cutler, Rivers, Romo, Brees and Peyton Manning do right now.

They went 2-2 in the first four games, as they were predicted to in the pre-season.

Jets are still a huge threat to us in the AFC East and can still win the division.

LOL! Stats are skewed too much this point of the season. One game can skew a person's stats and a lot of teams have only played three games compared to the Jets' four (which also skews the stats quite a bit). You take away the last game of the Jets and he has 6 TDs and 3 INTs. His QB rating in two of the three games were under 93. You take away the Cards game where he had 6TDs and 1INT and he is middle of the pack

The Jets are only a real threat for the division if 8-8 or 9-7. They might go 10-6 if everything goes their way. Their defense still is questionable. If you want to look at skewed stats, their pass defense is 30th in the league. They are 30th in points allowed (they have given up twice as many points than the Pats have).

The real thing working against the Jets in unfortunately they cannot play the Cards a home every weekend. Please stop using stats skewed by one All Pro performance which was preceeded by one average and two so-so performances as proof that Favre is still a top QB and the Jets are legitimate threats for the AFC East. They could be, be even in down years by Favre, he has had a game or two of All World performances. One game means nothing.

Guy hasn't been at the top since '96, when he won his only SB. And anyone who watched that game can tell you that Reggie White and Desmond Howard had a lot more to with Brett being on top than Brett did.

I know how you feel. I get embarrassed when I see posters on this board pretend to be Patriots fans and then criticize almost everything about the most successful NFL team of the decade.

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

Brett is a great QB and that was a great performance. Fortunately for us he is at the end of his great career or we might be in trouble.

what you forget is that he is not tom brady and therefore sucks **** / is overrated.

Both he and matt cassel are awful quarterbacks. Actually any quarterback in recent memory that is any good but is not tom brady is actually bad.

Your post has made me very angry!

You take away the last game of the Jets

No, you can't "take away" a game and deem the stats put up in it irrelevant or skewed. What a horrible and nonsensical argument.

He leads the league in TD passes and QB rating through 1/4th of the NFL season. He is also second in completion percentage.

Also one star? For posting factual stats and saying the Jets are still a threat? Grow up and think before you post.

What the hell? He was the second best QB in the league last year and led his team to a conference championship.

Pretend? Yes, I just dedicate 3 hours of my life every Sunday to find something to complain about on an online message board.

Almost everything? Off the top of my head things I've openly criticized on here...

1) Matt Cassel
2) The 2006 Draft / Laurence Maroney

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

I agree the Jets are a threat.

v Cincy, @ Oak, v KC, @ Buff, v St Louis.

They are going to win probably 4 of those games. I'd be surprised if they aren't 6-3 coming to New England.

All those points and yards the Jets gave up on Sunday were in the 2nd half, completely meaningless. They were up 31-0 at halftime.

Unless people think the Bills or Pats are somehow going 12-4 or 13-3, I don't see how the Jets aren't a threat in the division.

You're right, you can't "take away a game." You also can't rationalize that they are 2-2 just as predicted in pre-season and ignore Brady's injury, because you know as well as I do that if Brady were known to be out before the season started, the Jets' predicted record after 4 games virtually everywhere would have been 3-1.

Perhaps correct. However, the 9 or 10 wins people were giving the Jets, not at all a threat to win the division if Brady were playing, could be enough as it is. Who knows?

I took away that game to prove my point about one game skewing stats at this point of the year. It is simple logic. He has played four games when many QBs have played three which is a huge advantage and that one game equals 1/4 of his playing time for the year.

He leads the league in TD passes and QB rating through 1/4th of the NFL season. He is also second in completion percentage.

And a week earlier he was in the middle of the pack in some of the stats. Look at the league stats any given year after week 4 and then at the end of the year and a lot of the leaders in categories in week 4 are nowhere to be found near the top by the end of the season.

Also one star? For posting factual stats and saying the Jets are still a threat? Grow up and think before you post.

Yep, anyone spouting off about stats at this point in the season as proof that any player is one of the best players at his position deserves one star. You do realize at this point last year that Drew Brees was the worst starting QBs in the league in terms of TDs with only one TD. He ended the year 6th in that category with 28 TDs.

In 2005, Brett Favre first five games he had 12 TDs (the same amount he has in 4 games this year). His last 11 games in 2005, he had 8 TDs. Yes, only 8 in 11 games after getting 12 in five games and he didn't get half of them in one game like he has this year. So what does that tell you?

Yeah, was there a single person outside of New England predicting that the Pats would beat the Jets the week before the game? Even a lot of guys in New England were predicting the Jets to win including the Globe and all four guys who do the Sunday Morning show on WEEI. Also, a lot people had them beating the Chargers since the Chargers were 0-2 going into that game.

Sorry, but if you look at every Power Poll and the Jets are still ranked in the 20s and everyone has them below the Pats and Jets. Yes, Power Polls mean very little except that few people are sold on the Jets based on one performance by Favre against a horrible Cards team that was short staffed, provided no pressure on Farve, and 10 yard cushions on his receivers.

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

Exactly. I understand the Jets pre-season expectations might have been 3-1 (Not a overwhelming 3-1, the Jets were a mere 1.5 favorite against the Pats) as opposed to 2-2 had the Brady injury been taken into account. I did not choose to ignore this.

I stuck with the original expectations, because even those had the Jets, as posted above winning 9-12 games and being a playoff team.

Nothing. Brady led the league in TD's after his first 4 games and finished the season with the most TDs. Your stat is irrelevant. Sometimes players stay consistent, sometimes they don't.

Brett Favre has statistically performed at the highest level 1/4th into this NFL season, by definition putting him at the top of the league right now. Until you have stats relevant to this season to prove otherwise, this remains fact.

Well, you just disproved your own argument. Favre has been far from consistent this season. The guy has 12 TDs. He had 6 in his first 3 games and 6 in his last game. How is that consistent? Even Jets fans were questioning whether the Jets made a mistake acquiring Favre this time last week. If Favre went from a mistake acquisition to leading the league in TDs in one week, how can you argue consistency.

BTW, Brady in his first four games had 3TDs, 3TDs, 4TDs, and 3TDs. Favre in his first four games had 2TDs, 1TD, 3TDs, and 6TDs. How can you argue Brady's consistency vs. Favre's?

Brett Favre has statistically performed at the highest level 1/4th into this NFL season, by definition putting him at the top of the league right now. Until you have stats relevant to this season to prove otherwise, this remains fact.

Favre performed at the highest level 1 game this season. He was average at best the first three games. Because one game doubled his TD total for the season, we are going to ignore the facts and say he was one of the top QBs in the league this season because one game made him the top performer statistically?

I wish I could vote again just to give this thread another 1 star.

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

Ya know, 2007 has completely skewed Pats fans' perception of what makes a good QB. Prior to Brady's record breaking season, what was the mantra? "Stats are nice, sure, but what REALLY makes a QB great is leadership, intangibles, game managing, and WINNING."

Now, after 50 TD's, all of the sudden we're looking at stats again, like every other clueless fan.

Brett Favre is what he is. A flashy gunslinger, who's going to put up TD's, but is also going to cost his team games.

Two TDs in a six point win over Miami. Good.

Critical interception in a single digit loss to NE. Bad.

Multiple interceptions and poor decisions stalling the Jets against SD. Bad.

Six TDs against a terrible Arizona team. Good.

He's always been an overrated quarterback, because he oohs and ahhs people with his improvisation, blinding them to the fact that I wouldn't trust him in a single game, winner takes all. You just don't know which Favre you're going to be getting.

Exactly! Jets fans were thinking they might have been better off keeping Pennington this time last week. Now that one game has skewed Favre stats, people are going to argue that he has been the QB up to this point of the season? Really?!?

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

2-2 =/= Terrible

I'll clarify... terrible defensive team. I'm not sold on them in general, but I'll admit they have a pretty good offense.

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

2-2 =/= Terrible

They are not great. They were also without three starters on defense -Gabe Watson, Betran Berry, and Adrian Wilson. Wilson is probably their one of their best defensive player and his prescense was clearly missed since receivers were wide open over the center of the field the entire game. Also without Watson and Berry, there was no pass rush to speak of.

Re: OT: Brett Favre leads the league in TD passes and QB Rating

i think their upcoming schedule is really really easy . even for buffalo. our schedule is now in the tough stretch
@SF,@SD,DEN,STL,@IND,BUF,NYJ
vs
CIN,@OAK,KC,@BUFF,STL.

they could wiln all except buff.
