Given the heated discussions on Matt Cassel based on his lack of experience and performance until date (preseason and regular), I thought it be fruitful to get an idea of how the fans - those who didn't post repeatedly in the threads - feel about our current QB.

Please poll and give your thoughts if you want to.

For the record: I belong to the camp that BB knows a lot more about the team than any of us or the media or the experts. So, I trust his judgement in sticking with MC inspite of what MC's performance has been so far.

Will it carry us far? Don't know! I am captivated watching the team evolve in its quest to know itself in the absence of its franchise QB and will always support the team and its players.

GO PATS!!

Take it away ladies and gentlemen, and some kids ;) ...

Can't say he sucks in 3 games. Some positives and negatives. I'm TBD. I'd like to see better accuracy and more deep ball on this offense. He needs to get rid of the ball quicker as well.

His accuracy has been alright. His downfield passing game has been horrible since the pass to Moss vs. KC. A couple more games like this and I'll be calling for O'Connell, we can't have the defense only defending 15 yards downfield.

TBD but as of this point he is almost a 67% (comp %) passer and the rest of the player's on offense need to help him out by making some plays. Time for some vets on O to step up and start making plays!! Brady going down was a tough blow but hopefully they worked through it and got over it during the bye and will begin a new season @ San Fran. No more passes to Morris in the flat please, he can't make anyone miss. Try to throw some similar passes to Maroney who can make people miss in the open field.

I put TBD as well. After last week I was thinking we should go out and sign a veteran, but reading Patriots Football Weekly this morning I have to agree with what they said: There's really no one available right now who could do much better (especially with not knowing the playbook) and if we have to go to a third QB because Cassell gets injured, the hard truth is the season is going to be a wash anyway.

Our running game needs to improve. How can we judge him if every running play goes backwards ?.
Againt miami we had morris and jordan both presented no freaking outside breaking abilty we sorely missed maroney who bounces about setting up a defence a split second delay to see where is trying to hop. without him they knew jordan and morris are going to run between the tackles and ILB just came up collapsing the pocket or stopping the run.

time for maroney to step up and play 20-25 snaps to move the ILB back and give cassel a chance and our gaurds in rolling play to take them.

The Pats' offensive line has to step up and both run block and

pass block. Until they can do this, nothing will improve.

I agree the issue we are having is 5 OL ,1 or 2 TE are blocking 4/3DL and ILB and OLB.which means their is always a extra guy coming in.if they bring safety up their 2 guys more on the line then blocker. do you see a OL who is going to take on 2 guys in any OL in the league?.

TBD, which is pretty much what I've thought since week 2. He filled in once, he had a good game once, and he had a bad game once. I don't think he's anywhere close to Judgement Day yet, especially considering we have issues all over the place, not just at center.

I would like to see him go deep more often. The past few games defenses were playing up tight including the safety positions.

TBD for me. I would like to see him go long a little more but at the same time I think the O-line needs to play a little better.

I don't blame Cassel. He's just not Tom Brady. It's not his fault.

How anyone can have an opinion about him at this early point is beyond me.

TBD for me. Until he throws for two or three touchdowns in a game, it is hard to say that if he is the answer to the QB position.

Exactly! Guess you haven't read some veteran members keep blasting him repeatedly. Hopefully they see what 80% of us point out and keep their negativity on hold for a few more games. :snob:

Yeah, right... :D

He's still learning.

He'll be much better by the playoffs.

4 years with the team only means he knows the playbook and the offense ON PAPER

You pretty much have a ROOKIE at quarterback for the 2008 season whether Cassel sticks around or O'Connell comes in - Neither have much game experience - It is what it is

I think Cassel will get better.
