Round 4: Garrett Mills (TE)
Round 4: Stephen Gostkowski (K)
Round 5: Ryan O'Callaghan (OT)

Round 6: Dan Stevenson (OG)
Round 6: Le Kevin Smith (DT)
Round 7: Willie Andrews (S)

Our scouts must've been on vacation that year.

At the end of the day that year I thought wow this could be the best draft ever, forgetting the cardical rule of waiting 3 years.

Best grab in that draft was probably Gostkowski. He'll go down as a legendary kicker.

LoMo and L Smith still might turn out to be something more than average, imo.

come on
Maroney ,thomas and ghost are starters.Mills is a starters for vikings.
ryan has been good RT and could been a started if not for his PUP status.
Smith was a backup .
330 players get drafted a year and less than 50 stay in NFL and you thnkl the scouts did a bad job.?

Maroney's a pretty average runner, overshadowed by trash heap guys like Sammy Morris and Lamont Jordan.

Jackson was pretty much the definition of a bust.

Thomas looked good in his rookie year and then missed last season, but is solidifying himself as the top TE on the roster this year. He's probably the best of the day 1 picks, despite Maroney's better absolute production.

Mills looks pretty good... for a different team. I wish they had kept this guy, they could have used him.

Gostkowski was the draft's best pick. Booming kickoffs and very good accuracy have made us forget about Vinatieri.

O'Callaghan has started some games but RT remains a weak position and he is injured. Not a bad guy to have around but certainly no stud.

Mincey and Stevenson were both cut during camp and are out of the league.

Smith and Andrews both have contributed to the team, though Andrews is now out of the league but that has more to do with conduct than talent as he was a pretty good special teamer.

Altogether, I'd give the draft a C-.

Still on team [Regular season starts]
Le Kevin Smith [0]
David Thomas [6]
Ryan O'Callaghan [7]
Laurence Maroney [8]
Stephen Gostkowski [35]

No longer on team
Chad Jackson (Unemployed)
Garret Mills (Backup / Vikings)
Jeremy Mincey (Unemployed)
Dan Stevenson (Unemployed)
Willie Andrews (Unemployed)

Gostkowski is the only pick I look back on and like. Overall I'd give Maroney a C but based on where he was selected, it's deflated to an F.

i know ive beatin it to death in this board
but the fact that i (along with others in here) was right to begin with, and belioli were wrong just makes me feel dirty/sad/disgusted i dunno just overall crappy feeling

WE COULD HAVE HAD GREG JENNINGS INSTEAD OF CHAD JACKSON

Yep, please don't remind me of the Jennings GAFFE.....

Hurts every time I see him running into the end zone.

If it were not for Gostkowski of all guys on that draft it would have received a FAT F Because other than David Thomas who has potential, there is no one left on that list worth a spit..including Maroney who will be gone as quickly as his contract expires

Chad Jackson was also picked before Brandon Marshall, heh.

I'll also take LenDale White/Addai over Maroney any day. Addai has 26 TDs since being drafted.

The only starting quality player that comes out of that draft is Gostkowski. It's sad when the kicker is the best pick in the draft.
The other picks aren't even on the team anymore.
And the 1st rounder has trouble staying on the field.

PS I have now become convinced that it is folly to draft a WR early. Good call on Jennings. He is doing really well. Did anyone predict Brandon Marshall though? He has been playing like a stud.

Its an F.

I was happy after the draft.

Shows what I know.

a B; I thought A at the time, but overvalued Jackson. Maroney was a need pick, and project to be the average RB he is.

But a starting RB, a #2 TE, a great kicker and solid backup defensive linemen is a pretty good draft in my eyes. O'Callaghan is still a potential backup, but four contributers, including one of all-pro quality is a pretty good draft. I think LeKevin could start on some teams.

Round 1 pick - still with the team, regular contributor, shown flashes of greatness from time to time, but has had injury problems
Round 2 pick - let go during last round of cuts for this season, had trouble making it onto the team, due to lingering injuries
Round 3 pick - still with the team, missed a season due to injury, still getting to grips with the offense
Round 4 pick 1 - Made PC, didn't do much otherwise, not with team anymore
Round 4 pick 2 - Made the team, regular contributor, solid producer
Round 5 pick - Made the team, went from PC to backup on O-Line and occasional starter
Round 6 pick 1 - Didn't make PC, not with team anymore
Round 6 pick 2 - Made PC, moved on to team, part of DL-rotation
Round 7 pick - Made PC, made team, was emergency fill-in player, not with team at the moment

Overall verdict: OK, not bad, not great, netted a number of players that eventually made their contributions. In that respect, evaluation is still ongoing. Grade: B-

How is that an F? There are 3 starters from it, and a few more backups. If all the players were cut wouldn't that be an F. This is at least a C.

I'm frightened what you all think of the 2007 draft :D

I was a big Brandon Marshall fan prior to the draft, as well a big Addai fan, since I thought we might pick him in the second round (thought we would go LB in the first round). I also thought Greg Jennings would have been a perfect Patriot type receiver. You guys wonder if we win the SB the last two seasons, if we had drafted Addai, Jennings & Marshall instead of Maroney, Jackson & Mills ? Maroney was rated higher than Addai by everyone, I just wish he was picked higher than #21, so he would have been gone, we might have gone with Addai. Oh what might have been.

This is the reason why I gave this draft a D - -. Gost is why they didn't get an F.

Not only could they have had Jennings instead of Chad Buston but they could've picked up another O-lineman in the 3rd.

Yeah, SD got McNeill in the 2nd round, a Pro Bowl quality OT, we got Jackson. At the time, Maroney & Jackson looked like a home run, we all loved the picks. Now it looks like a big fat whiff.
