Hey all, I'm being driven nuts from a blast from the past and I need some help with it.

Some of you have heard me mention a time when something bad happened to the Pats at home (I always remembered it as an INT by Brady but I may be wrong) and all the fans cheered because the Red Sox scored. I'm trying to get confirmation on what game and what play it was. I think I may have it but I need some help. The guys on PFW in progress seem to think it was Tennessee scoring in the 5th game of 2003, but I don't think that's it.

I know that some of you tape games and save them, I'm wondering if anyone here has the 3rd game from the 2003 season if they could que it up to about 8:28 left in the 3rd quarter and see if the fumble by Brady is accompanied by cheers from the fans because the Red Sox just scored.

The game was September 21, 2003 and it was against the Jets.

And the Red Sox were playing the Indians in Cleveland and scored only once, 2 runs in the 4th inning.

Or if anyone outright remembers it as a different play I'm not thinking of please post it here too.

Thanks,

When I get home I can look through the media guide and look for the exact game and date but I recall us playing the Tennesse Titans while the Sox were in the playoffs. I recall cheering some good news when a bad play happended. I remember this pretty well as My father and I chose the Pats and my two brothers chose to watch the Sox. The thing is though with the success of both of these teams I would bet this happened more than once. I specifically remember this happening during a Titans game though, I believe it was during the first streak.

Edit: it wasn't during the streak but the sox were playing the A's and we played the Titans on 10/4/2003....again I can't be sure this is the one you are recalling but it is the game that stood out to me.

Double Edit: the game I am recalling was definitely a playoff game as I would not have brought a radio to the Pats for a regular season Sox game Sept. 21.....but again I am sure they lined up plenty through the years.

It was on October 5th, 2003 when the Pats played the Titans. McNair had just scored to make it 27-24 Pats when the scoreboard showed the Sox beating the A's in Game 4 of the ALDS to force a Game 5.

That was the game I was thinking of. I guess the articles I found were about pregame as I was a day early with my date.

I remember play:

Week 5 - Oct. 5, 2003 1 2 3 4 OT T
Tennessee Titans 6 7 3 14 30
New England Patriots 7 0 14 17 38

4-6-TEN 33 (4:34) C.Hentrich punts 56 yards to NE 11, Center-K.Amato. T.Brown for 89 yards, TOUCHDOWN NULLIFIED by Penalty. PENALTY on NE-J.Cherry, Illegal Block Above the Waist, 10 yards, enforced at NE 29.

After it was called back, crowd cheered Red Sox on the big screen and T.Brown then was frustrated in post-game comments.

Yeah, and I'm sure that happened, but it just seems to me it was either an INT or a Fumble or something where the Pats lost ball.

In any event it was infuriating for a non Sox fan such as myself.

I believe the term you were lookin for is "poor, deluded soul." ;)

Yeah the whole 200 year plus drought or whatever it was musta been a barrel of monkeys.

I can't recall another moment like that at Gillette.

It may have infuriated you as a non Sox fan but 68,000 of us were there to watch the Pats that day and I'm sure 90% of the crowd were also Sox fans (like myself) who wanted to know what the outcome was of Game 4 of the ALDS.

If anyone is to blame it was the scoreboard operator who showed the Sox winning.

It was definitely the Titans game, which is remembered by most as playing second fiddle to Todd Walker and the 2003 Red Sox that weekend.

So it should have. It was the Pats 5th game of the season and the Sox were playing an elimination playoff game.

That fact didn't stop me, my brother and the other 68,000 Pats fans from going to the game.

That was a good game as Mike Cloud went nuts. His one and only shining moment as a Patriot.

A true Rhode Islander! I never understood why he didn't get more chances.

He was great at BC as well. That was a great day for him. If I'm not mistaken he scored at least 2 TD's that day.

He had 2 TDs against the Colts in the goaline stand game.

One of my favorite moments from "3 games to glory II" was in that game, Brady hit Dedric Ward for a TD and meeting him in the end zone were Mike Cloud and Bethel Johnson. How bout that?

I could really use your memory :D

I knew he had one other good game. Damn my memory!

Ward, Brady & Cloud? Wow. Those were the days :)

Brady can make anyone look good.

No offense, because there are others of you out here that root for the Pats, but not the Sox. However, I never get this Sox vs. Pats thing. I grew up in New England, with friends and family all rooting for the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, BC, UMASS etc. etc. etc.

I see Sox games on TV with fans wearing Pats hats, and visa versa. We have millions of people attending the parade that I'm sure don't just root for one team.

It's bizarre to me. Am I the only one who thinks, these single New England team fans are in the minority? If their are 65,000 Patriot fans at a home game, good luck finding many like you that don't also like the Sox. It's going to be hard to do.

The roar of the crowd when good news on the Sox occurred seems to indicate that there MAY have been alot of Red Sox fans at the game. If the timing of the score being flashed coincided with something bad happening on the football field, I say respectfully, get over it.
