I was finally able to download, and watch the Miami game today. Now I understand exactly why everyone is b*itching about the defense. They came out strong,,,,, for one drive. After that, they were either out of position, or unable to tackle. No pressure at all on Pennington. For those who are always calling Penny, "noodle arm", keep in mind, he's an accurate experienced QB. Give him enough time, and he will pick em apart.

For everyone saying "Cassel sucks", I think you're focusing too much on the negative plays. He did make some good reads, and a couple nice throws. A couple, is the problem. He made a good read on a pass to Welker coming across the middle but put the ball a little behind him. He'll need to be more accurate on those passes. If he hits Welker in stride, it's a huge play. The one that was supposed to go to welker, and should have been intercepted, again, bad accuracy, great concentration by Welker. Poor Decision on the wr screen when 2 CB's are playing up on the line. I think he should've audibled. But these were only a couple of plays. There is enough to work with here, and I think IF, and that's an IF, he learns from his mistakes, he'll be alright.

Special teams, well, they were the only bright spot.

Offensive line is simply not consistant. They had a couple of good holes for Morris, and Jordon, just not enough to give us a solid running game. Same for Cassel. For the most part, he had 3 steps, and was either getting the ball out, or getting hit. This time last year, they were giving Tom enough time to drink a coffee, and then throw to Moss. The battle must be won in the trenches.

I'm not even going to go into the 2nd half.

Bottom line, they need to work on the fundementals. B.B. will see to that. After watching it, I'm not nearly as worried as some of you had made me with your posts. They will improve, and although it may not be pretty, I think we're gonna see a repeat of 2001. Not to say we're going to the SB, just that we're gonna win some, and lose some ugly, but the season is a long way from over. I for one, am looking forward to the next game.

thanks for the back to basics review of the game. i think most of us have been too raw the last few days.

question: did you feel like throwing up or god forbid boo'ing the teams play?

maybe not, since you already knew the outcome as you watched it.....

Completely agree with this assessment. Yours is the voice of reason.

It's been quite bizarre to see everyone focused near solely on the offense - we should expect a good offensive production each week, but requiring 39 points is unrealistic, and unless the Defense does a better job, the outcome will be the same each week.

Many Patriots players and fans have both come to expect a certain level of work ethic and performance from the team. Even in 2001 when the team was not as talented as today, they gave 100% at all times, and even if the outcome was a loss, we all felt that such outstanding effort was worth cheering about.

When they don't see that work ethic and drive in a game like last week, it should come as no surprise that a great many fans will vocalize their dissatisfaction, just as Belichick did.

They have one or two stinkers every year and usually lose in Miami or Arizona because they forget to get on the airplane. This was more disappointing because it was a home game.

However, if they had beaten Miami, they would have bellied up in Frisco, so this way we are guaranteed a victory in Frisco and it all evens out.

Hey man, I live down here too, MT Juliet actually, and I gotta say, im loving every minute of NFL Sunday Ticket. I dont have to watch all the Titans games (and no other) on Sundays now. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend it, NE Pats every Sunday in Hi Def....I dont leave the house on Sundays anymore...:D

good read......got to agree with most of your points.
