I think this guy really needs to start coming under fire/taking some blame.. I feel like he hasnt been a very good coordinator since taking over.. Our defensive backs are always playing 10 yards off the receivers, we get run on, cant tackle, the superbowl debacle.. is this a final season for him then capers/?

If Romeo keeps losing in Cleveland ...

Well, to think about, Charlie Weiss is also under the gun if ND tanks this year, If we could get both again ....

Man this is going to be one long winter ***sigh***

We know it's not the personell that's for sure. Afteralll, it was Pees in that #21 jersey tripping over the plastic blades of field turf, trying to tackle Brown down the field.

Yup and it's not like we won 21 in a row with Pees and McDaniels in those positions...

Anyone remember who our incompetent OC and DC were back in 2002 when we missed the freakin' playoffs? 'Cause those clowns were working with a Superbowl Champion offense and defense that suddenly stunk up the joint...

;)

I sort of agree. IMO, Pees has done an adaquate job here but this bend but don't break defense, while it may be great with Brady in, has to go this year, IMO. If we want to pound the rock while Cassel just oversees the offense (ala Brady 2001) then that defense has to be mean, vicious, and willing to attack the quarterback from all angles if we're to have any hope of beat the elite teams. But then again, I don't work for the NFL and I damn sure haven't won three Super Bowls. So just take this as speculation.

Well, it's obvious that a defense must be extra stout to support a ball-control offense. An "attacking" style vs. a "contain" style of defense would seem advisable, but I'm in the same boat as you re., layman's perspective.

I would like see a better blitz package than what we have. I thought during week #1 when Hobbs got a sack on the corner blitz, we would see more of Capers style of attack the QB from all sides.

Ever since Pees has headed up the D, the middle of the field has been torched.

I have to also put this on the front office. I like many of you have screamed at the t.v. on past draft days. The Pats failure to use high picks on LB and DBs I think has caught up to them. I think what has hurt the D is not replacing a tough run stuffer like Ted Johnson. Not replacing a Ty Law who was a shut down corner. Not replacing a Willie Mac who always came up with a big play. This team has drafted more TE's than LB on day 1.

Good Christ, it's been one HORRIBLE game. Otherwise, the Patriots D was very good this season. Talk about an itchy trigger finger.

The defense was #4 in the NFL last season.

Lets be real about this, I think the O had everything to do with the pats D being ranked #4.

Granted, it was one horrible game...BUT

it was a horrible game against a team that previously had been indefinably bad

it was a horrible game in which this team gained more then 2x the yards on the ground that they had their first 2 weeks combined

panic...no...

pissed off...yeah...

I'm going to reserve judgement on the defense to this point for the next couple weeks.

The team is 30-5 with Dean as DC. This question is way premature.

Players win or lose individual games. Coaches need to have more games to be evaluated, 3 games(and losing Brady) isnt close to a complete picture. Calm down.

Is it possible for us to simply assess yesterday for what it was? Namely, a pretty good team which was complacent, not ready to play and got its ass kicked on both sides of the ball. When the Bills beat the Patriots 31-0 a few years ago on opening day, I recall the doom and gloom, we suck, our coaches suck, everything's over, etc. For chrissakes, calm down.

I sure as hell hope so. 20-2 is simply unacceptable. In fact, they clearly need to just clean house and make a total overhaul, from the lowest player all the way up to the owner.

It was difficult for the opposition to score when Brady and

the Pats offense had the ball.

I think we need to find out who is above the owner and fire him/her/them too! In fact, I'm going with a new slogan: Fire God, let's start the whole thing over!

I wonder if we could bring over the Japanese tradition of Seppuku, just for this disaster of an organization....
