I think that we need to replace Cassel. However, we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the miserable Miami team rolled over our defense. Leadership and better execution of offense of course would have helped the defense, but that is no excuse for their performance.

There are are some choices

1) Our defense is fine. They just had a bad game. With our QB siutuation, the defense can't have a bad day and expect to win the game.

2) Our defense is fine. We were just outcoached. Our coaches had a bad day, a very bad day. With our QB siutuation, the defense can't have a bad day and expect to win the game.

3) Our defense is great, but could use to upgrade a player or two on run defense. For example, we might bring in Seau and Lynch. With our QB siutuation, the defense can't have a bad day and expect to win the game.

You can't really EXPECT to win the game when your defense has a bad day no matter who is the QB. However you can definitely expect to lose when your QB is young and only in his 2nd start.

A defense can have a bad day.I think the defense will bounce back. The offense will stay the same if we keep Cassel as our starting QB.

ding ding ding. They didnt come to play against Miami, we have done this time and time before against Miami, they are so bad for whatever reason the D just doesnt get up to play them. They brought it against KC (1st game of season) and Jets (division threat) and looked good, held both teams to hardly any points. The D will be fine. The O has never played good ever this season, getting a competent QB under center is a must AKA OConnellgod.

You two really should get married.
They considered it, but the commitment to "for better or worse" was left out of their DNA. :snob:

He doesn't play offense either

My thoughts exactly when I saw this thread title.
As I've seen, some folks are a bit over protective though.

You're not going to win many games when you only score 13 points, no matter how good your defense is.

Worse, Cassel's penchant for going three-and-out meant the defense spent a heck of a lot of time on the field. They were absolutely gassed by the fourth quarter.

I think it's more along the lines of the defense is fine but the offense isn't good enough to overcome a bad (this was horrid) defensive game. I think it's this but to be honest I can't say for sure.

If Brady were the QB, and this game was played, I say, well we just lost some of our margin for error in terms of the division and a first-round bye. It's not good but it's not necessarily a sign things are over. If the defense isn't as good as we hoped (and I'm not ready to say that yet), then that's a problem but if the offense were elite, ok you can adapt a bit and go.

But in this case, if the defense isn't as good as we hoped, we have a serious problem. The offense, as presently structured (qb) isn't good enough to overcome that.

yup even if our defense has an awesome game we still need to put points up on the board..field goals will not win you many games but i seriously cant believe miami scored 38 today..that was just a horrendous performance. we'll know alot about this team after their next game
