so...how good of a blocker is he?

watson is hurting, and neither watson nor thomas are too spectacular blocking....how is Tony at it?

he is getting up there in years, and does not have a ring...and plays for the lowly chiefs...could we pry him from KC for a moderate contract?

im asking this mainly for his blocking abilities...

Do you know something we don't???? Is he on the block?

He's a top 5 TE (not sure about blocking though)

Would he take a pay cut? I'd give up a 2nd rounder for him if he'd be willing to give up some cash for a ring.

He's not on the block as far as I know and he isn't too good of a blocker. That would be a complete waste of a second rounder. Why not just keep it for a better trade offer/free agent/draft pick?

Circumstantial evidence, but he's blocked on the line that helped Larry Johnson to some very productive seasons. I wonder whether he'd 'fit the system' in these parts, especially in the passing game. I certainly don't know enough about football to even pretend to grade his blocking, though.

We could also use Brian Urlacher, Champ Bailey, Lito Sheppard and Peyton Manning. Let's get them also.

i think we can use adrain peterson, will he take a paycut for a ring?

Just another thread of wanting a player...even though he's quite unavailable..

He signed a 5-year, $35 million contract about 18 months ago through 2012. As he appears to be one of the few remaining assets on KC and is a KC icon, I would view KC's trading him as the equivalent of the Patriots dealing Brady. Short of a blockbuster trade shoring up many of the weaknesses on KC, it just wouldn't happen. KC isn't in cap hell, but through lousy personnel decisions it appears to have found its way to that address.

As for getting him, love to see him here. He can block (you may recall some story where Belichick lit him up for not hitting on special teams at the Pro Bowl and Gonzalez responded by blasting someone on the next return) and catch, and given the likely use of a short passing game in the near future he would be huge. That however would be classic wishful thinking as it just won't happen.

Outstanding receiving TE, but he's not what I would consider a particularly good blocking TE. Also, the Chiefs generally have at least one blocking TE on their roster to go along with Gonzalez.

This is stating that obvious, but I doubt the Chiefs would be all that interested in dealing him.

...Peyton Manning. Let's get them also.

Peyton "Throws His Team Mates under the Bus" Manning? I'd sooner get Johnny Damon and Manny Rameriz tattoos.

I think it's obvious that don't do drug testing where you work.

lol, at the ppl comparing peyton and adrian to this...

as for those who actually responded...i agree

KC wont be too likely to trade him, but it sure as heck isnt possible, espcially seeing as how they are focused in the future and getting younger...

i didnt know about his recent extension through...does he now make as much as graham????

but the responses are still mixed on his blocking

With Brady out..... if Manning became available and could fit under the salary cap, BB would go after Peyton faster than a fat man grabs for the last piece of chocolate cake.

I know he's a good runner, but is he a good blocker? Cause what we really need is a good blocking RB!

Would you give a third round pick to the Vikes for Adrian Peterson? Better yet, they need a QB. We can give them Matt Gutierrez. I'd do that.

I think its a fair question. KC is in total rebuild mode, just as the Phins are. Time to dump all old guys with big salaries......so I dont know why he or Larry Johnson are still there. I bet BOTH could be had before the trade deadline.....but the unfortunate part is I dont see either of them as much of an upgrade to what we have. If Maroney went down ask me again about Johnson....but TG just doesnt LIKE to block. Here he would have to LIKE it.

i understand the intent of the OP, but it's a silly question. if they were truly looking to get rid of him then they would have done so in the offseason. i remember reading an article saying gonzalez was buying into the youth movement in kc. whether or not that's true, it looks like he's staying in kc for a long time. just because we could use someone doesn't mean their team would trade him to us.
