i thought that was lawyer milloy who had to feed his family? Ty was the one who was afraid to fly and then after being excused from the team flight from Buffalo, was busted re-entering the country with special pills.

He's feeding his family. He also fed my family and I thank him for it. He drives a canteen truck around Gillette stadium selling food. I bought an italian sausage off him that was just great. He also has pre-packaged roast beef sandwiches which are very good. I wasn't really digging his attitude, but man did he have some good lunch meat.

Does Ty Law seem like a I won't to win kind of guy? He wants to get paid and thats it. That is why he is not in the NFL, he thinks he is better than he is.

I don't think people hate Ty law. He was a key member of our superbowl teams. But I think most people feel he can probably feed his family pretty well on the millions he's made, and find it ironic that that's what he chose to complain about.

It looks to me like Ty seriously overplayed his hand. I have to think he would have had a job if he hadn't held out for top dollar.

But maybe he just figured "Hey, I'm rich and reasonably healthy. If somebody will give me $5 million, that's worth subjecting my body to another year of NFL punishment. If not, it's jacuzzi time." Maybe...but I doubt it.

Ty was always one of my favorite Pats - but he has a very bloated sense of himself.

After seeing our secondary so far, we certainly don't have need for him unless an injury occurs. Although, I will say - and some will consider this blasphemy - that I'm not sure how I feel about Rodney's coverage against the slot WR or TEs in the nickel package on 3rd downs. Ty Law might provide better coverage skills without completely giving up all the bulk & physicality they want for the guy in that role.

I agree with this. At this point I feel very good about our CBs and very, very good about our front 7, but I'm really wishing Tank Williams were still around to help out at safety.

I think Rodney can still help the team, but we need to get him a back-up. Meriweather is looking real good this year. Gotta like that.

Me, too. If I hadn't deleted the preseason games off my DVR already I'd go back and watch how they use Tank. What's interesting to me is how they've already adjusted.

For passing situations, basically they bring Bruschi off the field, bring Meriweather on, move Harrison up to the slot or into the box, exchange some DLs (Green and or Wright for Warren and or Wilfork).

AD's been in coverage a lot and I wonder if that would've been different if Tank were here. The nickel package as of now has 3 DLs, 3 LBs & 5DBs. If Tank were around, would they lose a DL and move AD up onto the line to rush?

Either way, in reference to Rodney, I can see that slot coverage role being upgraded - for the nickel package anyway. I love having Rodney in the base 3-4 and creeping up into the box to help in run support.

If you check the dates and locations I think you will realize that his most flippant critics were probably not yet on the bandwaggon when Ty was helping this team win championships.

Ty played some high stakes poker and lost. He felt, like he's done in the past, that he could ride out the storm and still get his asking price after some CBs went down or underperformed and knowing Ty, he still probably hasn't lowered his salary demand.

I mean, my kids get filet mignon and lobster bisque on a nightly basis, so can't Ty's kids..................

IMHO, Meriweather should start next to Rodney at FS and Sanders should rotate in as the #3 guy. James has peaked out, he is what he is and will not getting any better. He's steady, but Brandon brings much more to the table now and into the future.

We'll see over time - I'm big on Meriweather, too, but I like what Sanders brings to the table. He's solid playing any role the Pats put him in, deep coverage, coming up to the box, defending out of the slot, and he has tackled well. Aside from taking a bad angle on the big pass play against the Chiefs, he's been one of the steadiest players out there. Obviously you want your 1st round pick with all the potential to ultimately get the starting job, but there's plenty of snaps to go around when it comes to the Patriots safety position.

I had thought before maybe we'd see a Meriweather-Sanders starting combo in the base 3-4, but I've changed my mind - Rodney is too good playing close to the line, and after watching the Jets game, his weakness may be more in the passing situations and nickel packages.

I think he is still waiting for a few big names CBs to come up injured so he can still get that INSANE asking price.

He'd rather miss 3-4 games for the chance at big money than take less than what he THINKS he deserves.

Of course, he may well have overplayed his hand this time. If he sits out all year, he will have a hard time finding big money next year.
