OT: Vikings bench QB Jackson

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

No surprise here. Jackson is a terrbile qb. He just doesn't make good decisions with the ball, and and is horribly inaccurate. I think the vikings will do much better with Ferotte in there, which says alot.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

jackson maybe bad but i disagree childress is a good coach. he is quite bad. he took a lot of credit for developing mcnabb and said he could do the same with jackson and traded 2 3rd rounders to move up to the 2nd round to pick him. yet his offensive playcalling has been run twice and then rollout jackson for a throw on 3rd down. childress is horrible. iam sure viking fans will agree.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

I'm not sure if you've seen any Vikings games yet this season but Jackson is a terrible quarterback. IMO, this is a great move for the Vikings.

The problem is, benching a lousy QB is only a great move if you can replace him with a non-lousy QB. Gus Frerotte is the definition of journeyman backup. He's 37 years old, has played for 8 teams, and his all-time-high passer rating for a season where he started 8 or more games was 79...12 years ago.

At this point Frerotte is a better quarterback than Jackson is which is why it's a good idea to put him in there. If Frerotte can make a few more plays through the air than Jackson did, then that opens things up for the devestating 1-2 combo that Minnesota has.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

They benched a lousy quarterback for another lousy quarterback. Way to go, Vikes.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

Frerotte, like a fine wine, only gets better with age. I am sure he will build on that 74 passer rating earned in 186 games since 1994.

Somehow, "credible passing threat" does not immediately come to mind. At least 1 of the 5 NFL teams he called home was the Vikings.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

Vikes need to start another offense coordinator.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

from what i remember for frerrote in miami....

minnesotta just got better (by a more then small margin)

Maybe...over the past 4 seasons Frerotte was:

352/665 (53%) for 4037 (6.0 YPA), 25 TD, 25 INT

That doesn't even compare well to other journeyman vets who started the year as backups. Take Brian Griese:

524/804 (65%) for 5791 (7.2 YPA), 38 TD, 33 INT

For all the preseason grousing about the Patriots QB depth, any one of their 3 QBs would have been a starter for the Vikings!

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

about time.

some would should tell him hes not VICK

Ummm Vick sucked anyways the only thing he is good at is killing innocent dogs,Whats your point?

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

Frerotte may not be good but he's in a decent situation with a killer running game and some talent at WR. Not sure if he'll be successful but Jackson sure wasn't so it's time to look around. With the offense around him it's possible he'll do alright.

Their O-Line and D-Line are awesome. Teams are going to have a hell of time dealing with that once they all start playing like a team, and based on what I saw Sunday, they are getting there.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

The problem here is Jackson is a project that getting utilized too early. The kid has the skill sets but he needs alot of work.

Vince Young is in the same boat.

It's amazing that people can't figure out how good Aaron Rogers and Tony Romo are as "young qb's" and don't realize the time it takes to develop them.

We should also cut out guys a little slack on drafting a qb to develop.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

A week too late for me.

The one game I really wanted them to win this season was against the Colts and they blew it.

Having both the Colts/Chargers at 0-2 right now would feel great.

Posting that in this forum is futile.
A majority of Patsfans believe that rookie O'Connell was the answer when Brady went down.

Re: OT:Vikings bench jackson

They should have signed Chad Pennington.
