I was a bit teary eyed reading this

wbztv.com - Former New England Patriots Player Donates Ring To Help Children In Need

Je'Rod was a former Patriot who was a nice little addition to this team a few years ago as a ST and SS but just could not last very long on the active roster and now is doing something beyond belief for a needy children's charity by giving up his Super Bowl Ring to raise money in a raffle for these kids - Its beyond heart warming and there are no words to describe how wonderful it is what he is doing.

Its not like he is on a championship team now and likely to win a few more rings he probably is done,so giving up something like this precious ring which is what every player who makes the NFL roster covets and cherishes, is beyond incredibly generous and giving to the highest degree an athlete can.

This is a special story about a Patriot that those guys at ESPN will NEVER air.

well if he was caught for something else , it will on ESPN headline first as "EX-patriot caught ..."

I'm in New Orleans, any website that I can go to and buy Raffle tickets?

good for him...

its these types of actions we could use a little bit more of

Good for Je'Rod. He was an awesome gunner for a few years. One of my personal favourites.

Its cool to see that Someone knows that Football is not what matters in life. Je'Rod is a great person for doing this

Great story. The team and the league need to jump on this bandwagon.

its now on the yahoo main page...

This is a whole lot better than auctioning it off on ebay because the player needs money. How many times have we seen that happen? Atleast this is for a good cause. I guess I could understand needing the money, but if it was me, i'd get a third job before id auction mine off. So this is really a nice thing that Cherry is doing.

Your chance to own a Super Bowl ring for ony $2

Super Bowl winner to raffle off ring for charity

By Chris Chase

It seems that every few months there's a story about a down-on-his-luck former athlete who's selling a championship ring in order to earn a few extra bucks. This is not one of those stories.

Former New England Patriots safety Je'Rod Cherry is raffling off his championship ring from Super Bowl XXXVI to raise money for exploited children in Asia and Africa. He decided to do so after he and his wife attended a conference at his church in Ohio and saw children there raise $96,000 for an orphanage in Cambodia.

Good for him, that's a very good cause. I'll be buying a few tickets for sure.

Nice, I’ll partake in this

the guy that wrote this article is a clown:

"And, as long as we're giving credit where credit is due; take a bow, Bill Belichick's videographer: your sneaky methods ended up helping the kids. "

Really this is (A) unfactual (B) irresponsible (C) not funny

Re: Your chance to own a superbowl ring for ony $2

Some of the replies posted below the collumn are pathetic. For anybody that wonders what is wrong with our country...take a look at our society. I don't care who you are, if you are parting with one of the most heralded prizes in sports for charity...you deserve a big pat on the back, not "cheater" remarks or anything else low class. It's bozos like the ones making undeserving comments that make me wonder why I have served my country for the past 16 years.

when people who have served start asking that question...we not going down the right path

p.s. if i won that ring for $2, i would start another raffle similar to this one to raffle it off to yet another charity....

Re: Your chance to own a superbowl ring for ony $2

despite the worthess writer, I'll def buy some tickets to help!

Re: Your chance to own a superbowl ring for ony $2

I was reading through the moronic comments, and found this one.

"I'm wondering how many raffle tickets Dan Marino will buy. "

Helping kids is never a bad thing. If I get a SB ring from it, all the better. Good luck everyone!
