Is BB mad at Maroney? Was Eckel signed as a warning to Maroney?

Why do you think Eckel was re-signed?

**This one goes out to Spacecrime. :D

Because he's made of glass and does the c-walk for 3 seconds after he touches the ball.... doh!

Maybe he decided Hanson played well enough to get rid of malone.

Maybe Maroney's injury is enough to cause BB to put Eckel on the PS to have another RB available.

Maybe Eckel found those infamous pictures of BB that Ken Walter had for so long.

I doubt very much that BB signed Eckel to the PS as a warning to Maroney that he needed to step it up.

I think the message was sent in the 4th quarter when Maroney ran it for one play for negative yards and was pulled from the game.

Eckel is on the active roster not the PS.

I did think it was kinda curious that they were going on and on about Maroney being hurt and return was doubtful; and that LaMont Jordon was busting yards up and down the field, and then all of a sudden Maroney seems ok and is back in there.

I think he was questionable and they wanted to see how he was...NO biggie...Jordam Morris, Maroney, Faulk..they will ALL contribute at tiems. This game was more Jordan late..and Faulk with big plays...Eckel was in because of Alexander and possibly Woods...esp EA...a calf injury is tough. THAT was the reason why.

Maybe they should have sent that message to Dan Koppen instead. Kris Jenkins pushed him a yard or two past the LOS before Maroney even touched the ball. LoMo had just enough time to secure the ball before Jenkins rag-dolled Koppen right into him and took them both down, 2 for 1 ala AD's sack.

If BB was "mad" at LoMo, I'm sure he would sit the lad down and have a "coach to player" chat. I don't see BB as the lets play games type. He's probably quite direct when and if he has issues.

I saw that too. Maroney seems to have the worst luck right now when it comes to the O-line blocking. Many times after he is handed the ball, their is a defender waiting for him in the backfield. The blocking needs to get better.

I don't think Belichick is mad at him because after he had the long run against the Chiefs, he was taken out and didn't return for a while. It looks like each back gets a full drive to preserve themselves.

OK, I started this thread in jest, mainly, because Spacecrime was ranting and saying "next they'll start a thread like "Is BB mad at Maroney? Was Eckel signed as a warning to Maroney?"

I guess no-one noticed that.

Anyway, as you were.

I think BB wants to load up with backs this year especially with a rookie QB playing. Each back brings a different skill. This year we win with ball control, field position and defense. Last year was fun to watch (til the event) but this is Patriots football.

An astute poster pointed out that while there is a strong run tendency when maroney is in the game, this sets up opportunities down the line with playaction and screens.

I just can't figure out why our OL blocks so well for Jordan and so poorly for Maroney.

Probably because the opponent's defense was very tired. Although that one play Maroney got back in the O-line didn't block...

thus starts the hate in 08 for maroney. how quickly the fans turn on you.

just a continuation of the '06 and '07 hate campaigns
