Matt Cassel is already having a better season than Peyton Manning.

Week 1 Winner:
MATT CASSEL

This is a 2008 exclusive showdown. Because everything before this year is irrelevant right now.

QB A: Played the Chiefs
QB B: Played the Bears

Hey, I thought that Cassel did a pretty good job. But seriously, let's not kid ourselves. He's no Manning and, with Brady out, nobody is.

Player A: hasnt started a game since bill clinton was president
Player B: is Peyton fricken Manning

The Bears were expected to be a even worse team than the Chiefs this season and had a rookie running back starting.

All I know is Mass Cassel, as far as the 2008 season is concerned - has been a better QB than Peyton Manning. Fact.

Uh did you not get the point that this is about the 2008 season, not past accomplishments.

That's like saying Babe Ruth is having a better season then Dustin Pedroia right now.

Wow, the most ridiculous thread ever.

Um, how?

I'm merely chronicling the week to week comparison between our QB and our biggest opponents QB. Sorry if you find posting stats then determining a weekly winner ridiculous.

Yea you could've done the same thing in 2003 with Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady's 0 TD: 4 INT's but that wouldn't have really served a purpose either.

Easy there Chief. Peyton had a bad game againest the Bears, But He still is a League and Super Bowl MVP. Until Matt can do some of the things that Peyton has I take Manning over Matt. OR Brady over both of them.

Don't be so quick to judge, I'm in Indy and PeyMeaton looked like crap last night but he also looks about 15 lbs lighter. That's what he lost by not working out properly due to his recent injury. This *may not* be a good year for him and a good hit may sideline him as well. (Not wishing that, but if anyone loses 15 lbs of muscle they are going to be more vulnerable.) So let's see how this season plays out... this is going to be very interesting.

As for the Indy crowd, at my wifes work, when the announcement was made regarding Brady's IR, they cheered. And this is a place of white collar workers in the 30-45 age group. Those that at least generally project intelligence...

And a better season than Tom Brady did the game he replaced Bledsoe.

I like this thread.
There is non conclusion, just analysis.
I am sure most readers think that over the course of the season Manning will vastly outplay Cassel. That doesnt mean there is something wrong with keeping track.

I dont think one series by Brady is a reasonable sample compared to all but 2 by Cassel.

I wasn't even going to grace this thread with a reply, because it obviously is a shock thread but

Peyton Manning Week 2: 311 Yards, 1 TD, come from behind win down 15-0

Cassel- 165 Yards , 0 TD's, first career NFL victory as starter

Take a poll. Who would you rather have. Cassell or Manning? No way Cassell puts his team on his back and brings them back from 15-0 to win on the road. No way. Probably one of the hardest fought victories in Indy Colts history. That team gutted it out for 60 minutes. Manning gutted it out for 60 minutes. Cassell looks like he will be able to manage your team though. And the defense, while it gave up some yardage early, will keep the Pats in the hunt.

True, Cassel is no Peyton Manning. But then again, it was the Vikings, so don't get too caught up in the Manning ballwashing. A team like the Colts shouldn't have to stage a comeback against the Vikings.
