...Ellis Hobbs played amazing and has been. Dom Capers looks to have taken his game to a new level allowing him to play better this season than last.

When are the trashers of Hobbs going to start realizing he is that good.

I have never understood the Ellis bashers. The kid plays his ass off, even when hurt. No he's not perfect but no player is. I think he contributes a lot and does what is asked of him.

Its funny how people will blame Hobbs for losing the SB yet the Asante ball washers overlook the fact that he let the SB slip through his fingers.

Yea that's ridiculous. Hobbs had no shot on that play. It was a complete guess. He guessed wrong. It happens. Besides, even if he guessed fade, Burress is still going to get the ball at a higher point anyway since he's much taller.

Today Hobbs was excellent. It gets tougher, probably a lot tougher, but he's got guts, he's just a guy you want on your team.

I love Hobbs, he is going to have a huge impact on the D this year.

Don't expect the haters to love Hobbs until he has 10 ints. Alot of people didnt like Assante until he had his 10 ints. :D
I guess they figure ints = greatness

O'SNAP! We GOTS DElThA O'NeAL! He'S MAD gOOd.

LooK He JUST GOT 10 INTS Like 3 years ago!

I've been pro-Hobbs his whole career for the role he played, which was always #2 (and rookie year #3) CB. However, I was pretty down on him in the #1 corner capacity, especially after we saw nothing to show he had improved in the preseason. He has been OUTSTANDING through the first two games, doing everything a #1 corner does...breaking up passes 1 on 1, intercepting a pass 1 on 1, sack with a forced fumble, sure tackling, everything. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is two games, and he has usually started the season a lot better than he's finished it. If he continues this way all year, I'd be ecstatic, but I'm not assuming things will continue so well.

ummmm.......hate to break this to you....but

Hobbs is still at RCB,this is not the #1 CB position, the LCB,where Asante Samuel played is the position that generally plays against the best wideouts.

I'm not trying to quibble,as I believe Hobbs has been the defensive star the first 2 games.Hobbs never switches sides to LCB,nor does he follow a star receiver all over the field, like Darrelle Revis.

Even though he may become our best CB,he won't get the big money unless he moves over to the left side, like Asanta Samuel did in his 2nd year.

To be fair, other than taking a bad angle on that big pass play to Coles in the 1st half, O'Neal has been pretty solid especially considering that we singed him off the street about a day before the season started.

I have always liked Hobbs's play (including style points for making Rivers rant at him as "the sorriest corner" in the NFL). He is not big, so he should not be one on one in jump passes against giant receivers, but his cover skills are good.

And I second the O'Neal praise. For a guy who has been with this defense all of a couple of weeks, he looks to be a pretty good acquisition (probably would have had the first interception of the season if he didn't get pulled to the ground).

This isn't entirely true. Especially against teams like the Jets who's WRs switch up. OH, yes, the Pats WRs switch up as well.

The Jets were in MAN coverage the entire game. The Pats weren't. It makes a difference.

This is utter stupidity and not true.

:ditto: yea, what he said!

Hobbs has been one of my favorite players for a long time. Smart, tough, with just the right amount of swagger.

Striking, too, is how O'Neal has done so well on this team. Picked up off the scrap heap, he's outplayed all the FA CBs in the last several years, and didn't cost a pick like so many other highly touted CB acquisitions. He and Hobbs are great bookends in the toughness and heart they bring to the field.

I can't stop laughing......never let facts get in the way of another man's delusions.
XOXOXO

Hobbs won the LCB position out of TC in 2006 after beating out Asante Samuel (on the heels of replacing Duane Starks at RCB and outperforming any DB playing like crap in the absence of Rodney Harrison. Then he fractured his wrist as did Tedy and still played the RCB position after Asante was reinstated (in part because he claimed he (or his agent) was uncomfortable playing on the right side...LOL). His late season pickfest against likes of Daunte Culpepper and the immortal Rex Grossman (6 of 10 picks) made him and soft zone the preferred approach to 2007. Worked great to for 18 games...

Asanta...LOL Bill doesn't move his corners to cover receivers, didn't even do it when Law was here...

^I seem to recall he faired OK against Marvin Harrison at LCB a couple seasons ago.

Regardless, what's the point guys. Hobbs will get burned at some point in the season and give up plays as any CB will and his distractors will use that as evidence to rant about how much he sucks.
