Still feeling that way? Still think his production is "overrated" (by Bill Belichick, among others)? Hope we can all continue to appreciate the vast clutchness and the outrageous production we get from him, generally, and on a per-play basis.

Feel free to join us, and all hail #33.

What the hell, there was really a Cut Faulk crowd? What the hell?

his returns today were excellent.

Yeah, I don't get this either. This thread sounds like a delusional looking-for-Commies-under-rocks kind of thing.

Exactly where was there a "cut Faulk" crowd?

I don't remember anyone ever stating that the Pats should cut Faulk.

Lots of people talk about Moss being the heart and soul of the team now but IMO without Brady its a no brainer on offense its F-A-U-L-K

Anyone who said Faulk should have been cut in the offseason must have been smoking some of that weed with Kevin in the spring

Someone did post about the possibility of Faulk being cut. I think around the time he got busted wit the pot possession.

Don't remember who, but I certainly remember seeing what the TC did.

The pot thing has nothing to do with his football ability.

The OP of this thread asks "Still think his production is "overrated" (by Bill Belichick, among others)?".

I seem to recall some Faulk could be cut talk - based on the combination of age, salary cap, arrest, and the LaMont Jordan signing - but I don't remember much of any Faulk should be cut comments.

Ah, read over the original post again.

Yeah don't remember anyone requesting Faulk be cut based on his play alone.

Exactly. Most of the folks discussing it were putting it out there because of the drug bust (which, personally, I don't agree with - - he did the crime, he did the time, it's over) - - not because of his football ability.

Three or four years ago, when he was fumbling left and right, many including myself thought he would get cut.

Now we can all see how important he is as a third down blocker. If he hadn't gotten suspended for weed, he probably would have been in, not Morris, and Brady wouldn't have been IRed.

Since Cassel has been playing so well, and can only get better as he gains experience, and Brady is gong to get some much needed rest (and allow his foot to fully heal which would have been a nagging problem all season), we all owe a double debt of gratitude to Faulk, one for getting suspended, and two for helping the Pats win without Brady now that he is off suspension.

There was a good number of people who thought Faulk should have gotten cut over the past few preseasons.

Kevin has so many big plays every game it is ridiculous. He's like the ultimate safety net for the offense.

you sir are correct. I'm not about to go searching for every single post, but I remember several times over the past 3 seasons that were some silly posts saying the Pats should cut Faulk.

I for one thought there was a possibility that Faulk would get cut.

He is a non-starter in an incredibly deep back field
He was suspended for the 1st game
He is one of the older players on the team demanding a sizeable salary
Lamont is also a RB that can catch out of the backfield
We seem to be deep in punt returners (Welker, Hobbs, Slater)

With all that said I like Faulk and I am glad he didn't get cut. No one really needs to enlighten me on his strengths (great hands, awareness, quickness). but, to imply cutting him should have been beyond discussion is wrong. Faulk played a great game this Sunday and I hope we see games like this again from him. I do NOT think he will have a greater game this season because of his role on the team. Faulk will have some solid punt returns and about 2 third down conversions a game. He is a SOLID role player on the team. He is not the best RB.

a bit defensive about the OP call you out?

Faulk has had many games like the one today. You say "2 third down conversions a game"... which is an understatement, but let's go with it... those 2 plays are usually 2 of the most critical in the game. Those are times when we are in 3rd and long situations and the opposition has all the long options covered... faulk gets the dump off and despite 1 or 2 defenders, makes the first down happen with incredible effort. Maybe L.Jordon could do it or maybe someone else. Maybe. Faulk makes it happen on a very regular basis. On 3rd down, only Welker is more dependible for getting it done.

That is a valuable asset. Not worth talk of cutting him IMO.

Two Augusts ago, I don't think I ever said he said he should be cut but I did say it would make sense. Boy, was I wrong. I thought Faulk was overrated and overpaid. This may be a bit of the pendulum swinging too far in the opposite direction but no doubt Faulk is a contributor. I don't recall what game it was last season, but anyone with doubt of Faulk only had to to see his lunging diving drive for a crucial first down late in big game to know Faulk's heart and ability. I'm glad he's on our team...Forgive me Kevin, PLEASE!!!!! :D
